    If Clemens indicated that somethign was up he was probably talking about the Oswalt signing. At the time he supposedly made his statement, the Astros and Oswalt had set a deadline of the end of August to get this done, otherwise they agreed to wait until after the season. If Clemens was aware that progress was being made, it would make perfect sense that he would say something was going to happen by Friday.

    Again, does anyone (specifically Mr. Meowgi) have any knowledge as to whether or not Clemens used the phrase "pull a rabbit out of the hat"?

    MR. MEOWGI didn't say he was leaving, he just relayed what he heard on FM 93.7. I think it was jgreen91 who said he may or was leaving.
