    Sig bet?

Do you really think there's someone on the team willing to move to the 15-day DL, not to mention the team actually doing that during a playoff push? C'mon.

DaDa -- i'm being completely serious when i say it makes no sense to me. i'd be shocked if they moved a player down to make room for koby to catch his dad.

Seriously dude--do you not get that you sacrifice someone from your 40-man for this stunt--most likely permanently? In addition, you begin Koby's option years way early, meaning you'll surely lose him to the Rule V. If you think about all the rules of roster management and not just, "Oh, he's Roger's son and it's the Sep 1 call-up and all", it makes no sense. None whatsoever. This isn't little leagues; this is a multi-million dollar business. That and your inference that a stupid stunt like this is what convinced Roger to come back is a serious insult to his professionalism.

Considering the fact that Koby is a .229 hitting, 3rd base playing, single A ballplayer (who may not have caught a game this season), what message would it send to all of the more deserving players in the system if they potentially sacrifice a player to bring up Koby?

    This will not happen.

Does anyone know if Clemens actually used the phrase "pull a rabbit out of a hat"?

Drayton is ALL about PR and the bottom line.I want Roy signed, but at this point I hope this is not the "rabbit out of a hat"......even crazier is this Koby talk. The scary thing is this is the kind of crap Uncle would pull....buildup to letdown....alll in the name of publicity.
The way Clemens is talking though,I tend to think we're nabbing a high priced guy off the wire.

agree 100%...,my guess is that (assuming he wasnt talking about signing Roy) he is just referring to the past last minute deals Drayton has made to push us over the hump....and maybe he thinks there is a good possibility of adding a bat or an arm via waivers by midnight on Aug 31. I just sort of hope its not Wells.

This Koby talk is nothing more than message board fodder.

Can you give me other examples of this?

except none of us heard drayton say he's doing anything. he hasn't been quoted as saying, "we have something big coming." i'm not sure i've ever heard drayton use the word, "rabbit," in my life.

we have a "i heard someone say that clemens told them drayton's gonna pull a rabbit out of his hat."

i'm thinking oswalt was the big news for the astros this week. period. the end.

    3 games back.

I can't believe anybody took my Koby post seriously.

There is zero chance Koby gets called up. Zero. Purp's said it, Roger's said it, dunno why some people keep thinking it's realistic.

If this happened, I'd be hugely disappointed. Clemens gets paid to pitch for the Astros - he serves the Astros, not the other way around. You don't make roster moves to make a player happy.

If Koby gets called up to play C, he better put on some Depends. If I was on the other team I would love to have a play at the plate.

I thought it important to say this again...

Are you guys taking seriously something that some "reporter" from 93.7 (A CLASSIC ROCK STATION!) said that Roger said about something that Drayon McLane might have said?

The fact that this thread has gone on this long is kind of sad...

Just a bunch of bored cubicle slaves trying to escape. Don't ruin our Koby fantasy.

Which player was sacrificed from the 40 man roster to make room for Rodriguez?
