Is there a worse mascot in professional sports?

At least it has the train theme to tie it in with the team/stadium, unlike other ridiculous fuzzy animals around these parts...

It would help if you understood the waiver process. If we put him on waivers, he'd likely end up with Milwaukee or Philly. Maybe Cinci or the Dodgers. There's virtually no way he could get to the AL unless every other team in baseball just didn't want him.

don't tell that to my kids, though. a couple of years back, he grabbed my older son who was 4 at the time and walked around the field with him before a game!!!! literally, walked out towards second base. was just hanging out on the field about 30 minutes before the game.

went to a game a couple of weeks back. we had seats real low down the 1st base line. my wife had my younger son, who isn't yet 2, ready to meet jack. he started playing with him and handed him 2 of the little soft baseballs they throw up into the stands. everytime my youngest sees jack on TV he screams! :)

I also liked the "championship contender [like the] Red Sox" line.

Quick jgreen...how far is Houston out of the Division lead? How far is Boston? How far out of the WC are both teams?

Maybe they should shut down Roger and save him for next season.

After the yankees swept boston last week, the red sox are slipping as of now they have some ground to make up. Clemens won't leave until the astros are mathematically out of it. Then he'll decide which contender he wants to go to and they will work it out then. I love how all you know it alls are acting like this scenario isn't possible. Clemens will be in the playoffs this year with or without the astros. You heard it here first!!!

Do you know the significance of September 1st? Do you think the Astros will be mathematically eliminated in 4 days?

If not, then your scenario is impossible.

Do you a) really believe that no other NL contender would make a claim on him or b) they will be mathematically eliminated by 8/31 or c) understand math?

He sounds like he's from New York or Boston, so basic logic and simple math are probably just out of his grasp.

YO JO-EY, DA YANKEEZ BA-BEE YEAH!!!

    The August 31st Deadline

The second trade deadline, August 31, has to do with playoff rosters. Players traded after that date are not eligible for the postseason with their new teams. Only players on a club’s 25-man roster or disabled list as of August 31 can appear in the playoffs. As a result, September trades are very rare and almost never significant.

There are loopholes that let teams add ineligible players to postseason rosters. The most famous example is Francisco “K-Rod” Rodriguez, who appeared in only five September games in 2002, yet was a huge factor in the Angels’ World Championship. And even K-Rod’s eligibility has been debated due to other technicalities.

They will make it happen for clemens. If Clemens wants to go to the yankees then the Astros will make it happen for him. If not by then end of the 2nd trade deadline, then possibly with one of the loopholes.

Still seems to me that if he wanted to go to the Yankees... he'd have signed there back in June....
