There's a single accusation in the report that says that someone says they once sold roids to someone who after the fact said they bought them for Tejada. I'm not sure that's enough evidence to ban someone for life... If a cheating accusation makes you banned from baseball, they should have gotten rid of Mike Scott before the 86 playoffs.
Hard to believe that Drayton would shell the funds after paying the guy $20M+ for less than half a season and then bounce for the Yankees right after. Plus this steroid accusation/scandal would be too much for anyone to spin right now.
That's one of the worst things Darrell has ever written. Well, I didn't see his work in junior high, but it can't be that bad and ignore so much of the issue. I already commented on this drivel (Darrell's) earlier.
Me too, much like Dock Ellis, my past drug use was more consciousness enhancing, rather than performance enhancing.
Berkman has spoken, and we will NOT move discussions further concerning Clemens until he breaks his silence and SPEAKS UP.... The Clemens close to Cy Young caliber, I'd consider it. The current Clemens though, might rank behind Wandy, a Wandy for a third of the season. Not sure if Clemens would be closer to 10 wins than Mark Prior off an injury. So I say the distraction would outweigh the pluses, and pass......(until halfway through the season like always) The personal services deal with Houston kinda complicates it in a way. Clemens is part of the organization. Would him pitching in a sense be "getting their money's worth" out of him?
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw MadMax pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
Because he can pitch, and we need pitchers. Eliminate every "cheating loser" from the game. Go ahead. Perhaps you and I will be able to make a roster. Oh, and while you're at it, you'll need to pull George Brett (pine tar), Gaylord Perry (spitballs), and that gambler who was an exec with the Giants (name escaping me right now) out of the Hall of Fame. OH, and there was plenty of steroid abuse in the 70s and 80s, too, so perhaps we can launch another $30 million investigation and out some of those guys. While we're at it, let's ban the guys who take ephedrine and other uppers, and all the guys in the 60s and 70s who were popping speed. The worst thing about this whole deal isn't the Mitchell report, it's all the self-righteous, uber-pious crowing coming from fans who knew damn well it was going on and are only now starting to get up in arms about it.
assuming its true, it really could be a win-win for both. clemens needs to repair his reputation, and posting a '04-'06-type season would help him pick up many of the pieces. he'd be properly motivated, focused and operating at the top of his game with a "see? i don't need steroids" with a likely "b****" tossed in for good measure exclamation point awaiting him at the finish line. meanwhile, the astros need pitching, and you could likely get him on the cheap. you offer an improved offense, a forgiving public, a spineless local media, and average NL competion for him to mow down. if he's willing and commited, i'd take him back in a hearbeat.
