Lance and Roger could get lockers next to each other and chat about the whole steroid thing all year.
Why would he want to pitch for us? Are we going to the World Series? lol. So you're saying there's a chance? (Insert "Dumb and Dumber" pic of Jim Carrey here)
Why don't the Astros sign Barry Bonds as well, then sign some more players that were linked to steroids.
I'll take 15 wins and a 2.50 ERA and take my chances that he is healthy for thr playoffs....give him iand incentive laden deal.....750K per win up to 10 and 1 million per after that
As much as I want to see the Stros win I wouldn't take Clemens back. He is going to be a distraction all season long that we won't need given that Tejada is already going to be a distraction. If he comes back and pitches and does well people will continue to say he is using steriods, if he does poorly people will say he has stopped to cover his tracks. For a team looking to address chemistry issues I don't think we need the cloud of Clemens over us. For better or worse I think Clemens' time is up and now is to retire with dignity.
Do you really think he is still good for that over an entire season? He started looking pretty damn old last season...one that didn't include hitting and running the bases. I can't see him agreeing to an incentive laden deal. His ego is much to large for that.
I'd be stunned if this happened. He's unable to go out there even a third of a season at this point, and the Mitchell report had his face on the freaking cover. Roger should have made like Lance Armstrong and retired two years ago. Sooner or later, they will nail you.... Evan
Sorry y'all. I'm back. I'm going to begin with quoting an article from Astros Daily. They just shipped a bunch of young players out for Tejada, someone we KNEW would be in the Mitchell report WAY before it'd be released. They're keeping that a__h_le roger clemens around (who just happened to have cheated off my aunt in high school more than once) with his personal services contracts. And if he comes back and pitches? Even worse. McLane won't say anything about it. We may as well change the Astros star to a syringe. The team may be built like the Rangers, but I feel like I'm watching the braves.
Roger probably can still pitch well enough to win with the astros offense. He can't pitch the innings though and the Astros would need an innings eater next up in starting rotation.
Quite frankely...I just want to win. I was watching the Bronx is burning in ESPN2 last night and that Yankees team had all types of problems but they put them aside in the end and won a world series. I really don't care who the Astros bring in as long the team wins. The "good" guys were here and we lost. Maybe we need a little attitude. MLB tests for the roids now so what happened in the past is done. As long as they stay clean now, sign them up and lets start winning baseball games!!!!
No!!! Outrageous!!! Anyone who has ever had a steroid accusation levelled against them simply can not wear an Astros uniform. In other news, it looks like I'll make the roster this year.
Im tired of the media w****, lets just move on shall we? We had a good run and it was fun while it lasted, but dude has too much baggage - especially now.
I think the punishment for illegal performance enhancing drugs should the the same as betting on baseball. If Clemens, Bonds, and Tejada aren't banned for life, Pete Rose shouldn't be either.
If/when Clemens, Bonds and/or Tejada come up with a positive drug test, we can discuss it. I can tell you that most pro sports leagues are more concerned with the integrity of the game affected by gambling, though. The concern is that you're betting against your own team and affecting the outcome that way...literally making a mockery of the context of competition by not trying to win.
