I remember listening to that game on the radio when I was a kid. Sounded like an awesome performance, wish I could have seen the video. I remember the coach (Bernie Bickerstaff?) saying he was throwing double, triple, even quadruple teams at Akeem, and would have thrown the kitchen sink if he had that available. "Unbeatable"
****ty ****. I really want to tape that Spurs game, but I'm at work until 8AM and I didn't see this thread until now..... Edit: Nevermind, I checked my TV listings and I guess they meant Friday night, 2AM, which woudl actually be Saturday morning, 2AM. That's good, now I can tape it and watch.
is it the " I don't know how I can sit here and say it with a straight face...I The man just played better than I've seen anyone play...in a-long...long time" (not exact quote..anyone know what D.R. did actually say) speech? that was after game 2.
Yep, I am sure everyone remembers that quote. It is on the Double clutch video and David said that after game 2. That was an awesome game.
maybe this shouldn;t go in the GARM, but man I'm loving this so far. World B Free went off in that first game in a losing effort, and Jellybrean Bryant made one of the sickest dunks I ever (and never until tonight) seen before all in Kareem's mug. The Golden State/Seattle game they just showe was great. 129-128 in REGULATION. Two amazing dunks by Kemp, and the sonics shot like 65% as a team.
Dammit, I forgot we lost that game, but still, 52 pts and 18rbs is incredible. I can't wait to see Yao do stuff like that, and with T-Mac out on the perimeter... we're gonna be watching some ESPN classic games live this year. Olajuwon really was a badass. It seems like they used to hustle a whole lot more. I can't believe he averaged like 4.5 blocks a game that season. Did the zone just make blocking shots harder or what? Larry Smith was half the man he is now, weightwise. It was cool seeing the Lakers coach as our assistant.
I totally fell asleep right before Hakeem dominated in the 2nd half. Seaking of a skinny Larry Smith, The Sleepy Floyd game they showed today was nuts.
