The team's circumstances have changed since we signed Lin and so has the roster. If we could actually get value in return for Lin, I imagine he'd have been moved already. I suspect the market for him isn't that great.

Sure, no one is willing to take Lin contract right now, but he could be traded by Feb together with Asik (name is right?). Maybe Lin is a good fit with Howard, we will see.

I voted 1, 4, and 8, which seem to be the most reasonable choices.

Suppose it isn't half of Houston that wants to bench Lin. I guess it only seems that way on the Lin threads. Probably a very vocal minority.

This poll and thread makes me feel sad for Lin.

Why? The 3 choices getting the most votes are all things I think he would agree with. In fact, if he ever reads this forum (and I hope he doesn't for the sake of his own sanity), my guess is that his most ardent supporters here, at least the ones who continually derail threads assaulting whoever makes the mildest sort of criticism of Jeremy, do nothing but embarrass him. Jeremy would feel ashamed that there are those here that are such rabid supporters that they are clearly irrational. In my humble opinion.

In my opinion, a large majority here wish Jeremy nothing but the best, hope that he retains his starting position because his play on the court earned that spot, and that he helps us go deep in the playoffs. In other words, we are fans because he is a member of the Rockets, and we want him to succeed.

I said that I root for Lin, that he needs time to improve, that he's mediocre (he is an average PG ATM, which is the definition of mediocre), and that it's up to him to figure out how to be effective in the offense.

btw, Tinman has earned rep in this thread.

    I don't hate Lin.
And for sure Clutch doesn't hate Lin.

the definition of "hate" is the what is the confusion is about.

When Kevin McHale benches Lin for Beverly and it works out for a Rockets victory, and people praise the move.. is that hate?

You know I don't hate Kenny Smith, but he got benched in the 4th for Sam I Am, yet there's no accusation of hate there

When one player does great things for the Rockets, he earns the respect and adulation of the Rockets fans .

I actually went to the Knicks vs Rockets game at Toyota Center.

The Rocket that impressed me that night the most was Chandler Parsons. The "lin vs his old team" storyline wasn't exciting that night compared to the Parsons going buck wild on the Knicks.

But a certain group here wanted Lin to be the storyline, they want us to give him the adulation. But in reality, he was just ok that night.

That's exactly right. It's a few loud posters - the vast majority of posters here don't get involved in Lin threads because they are tired of so many of them.

Hopefully Lin fans can take this to heart and realize a lot of the claims - like everyone wants to bench Lin is ridiculously untrue and represents the opionion of LESS THAN 15% of this board.

Fans on here are trying to reconcile all the different opinions about Lin into something that's generally positive or negative... and it seems to be overwhelmingly positive. Why would you (or anyone) feel sad for him? Lin plays for God; he doesn't bother with trivial things that people on CF fight over, nor does he care whether he has lots of fans or no fans at all.

Tinman is just the grumpy old man sitting at the end of the bar who lectures everyone about the good old days. Don't sweat anything he says.

I will say this: my enjoyment of Lin threads have increased dramatically after decisively putting every LOH (and a few LOF) on my Ignore List.

For the record, I do not want to bench Lin. I believe he is better than Beverly and that he deserves a chance to show us how he will perform now that he has more experience playing with Harden as well as should be recovered from any injuries. That said, I do still also believe that Harden makes Lin largely redundant.

Thanks for starting this thread, for bringing some objectivity to the board discussion, and for not rising to the bait of the "Clutch Troll".
