CW is a hard player, and I was impressed with whatever minutes he was on the court. If I recall, the Rockets won a couple of games because of his efforts.
I thought Weatherspoon was very productive for the minutes he played. He shot 50% from the field and he had a lot of 10-12 point, 5-7 rebound games during his stint here last season. What more could you ask for from a 3rd string power forward?
I heard Clarence went into a restaurant and he ate all the food in the restaurant and they had to close the restaurant
objection, not responsive. The pending question from StevieFlight3 is: would you rather have Weatherspoon or Moochie and Amechi?
Except the East didn't become the Leastern Conference until around 1997 to 1998. Big-man veterans like Malone, Robinson, and Olajuwon were still productive. Shaq and Webber had just moved to the west. Garnett was starting to become an all-star, and Duncan was drafted. Add in Jordan's retirement and the east really hasn't recovered since then. Weatherspoon was a productive power forward in the early to mid nineties when quality big men were pretty abundant and evenly distributed in the league. Age has obviously caught up with him, but he's not a bad guy to have on our bench.
In every other category than scoring he is more of a power forward on our team than Maurice Taylor will ever be.
For being such a suck as player he sure played pretty damn good for the Rockets last season. Spoon was actually very productive and efficient while on the floor last season in Houston.
Not a good comparison. We're stuck with either Moochie or Weatherspoon until 2006. You actually think we could've gotten someone better for Moochie? Frankly, Weatherspoon contributed a hell of a lot more to this team than Moochie. I'd say we came out on top in that trade.
Maybe you missed the the first post he wrote when he said its better than paying moochie or ameachi. But I can't belive this thread went to two pages. Yes Weatherspoon is vastly overpaid, but so are a handful of other players in this league. Heck he does more than the league's second highest paid player(Dikembe Mutumbo). Nets are paying him like fourteen million and he doesn't even play for them. New York overpays him with the additional 4 million they pay him.
great story...but what does that have anything to do with him being a basketball player? you have yet to reply about how spoon goes out there and gives 110% every night. it isnt his fault he has a huge contract, just imagine if you were in his position. "no i refuse to sign such a big contract because i am not worth that much..." im sure the ink would be dry before the sentence was finished. this is giving me flashbacks of the tinman posts about j.howard
Baqui, Spoon was the Sixers' best player early in his career. Look at the numbers. Spoon is a decent role player now. Does he deserve that big contract? No. Look at the FA's that signed the big deals this summer. How many of those players desrve their money?
Spoon will be a critical part of the Rockets roatation next season. He is a hard nose player unlike Taylor and Howard. He even held Shaq during last season. CW is a stong low to ground POWER Forward who has been better for the Rockets than was Moochie.
