I always do the same, I focus on culture and not War, But when your neighbours are the Mongolians and the Aztecs you do not have a choice.

Thanks, but that looks like one of the 768MB versions. I was talking about the 1GB 460s (which doboyz also seemed to specify). Probably wouldn't make that big of a difference (least not $50+ difference?), but I had kind of set my minimum for video ram at 1GB.
Civ 4 down to $6.24 for all the expansions on Steam. (Well, I assume all the expansions). I finally purchased! Let me know when Civ 6 comes out.
It's a great game. i got it around 5 years, and got BTS two or three years ago and I still can't stop playing.
Civ V (For both PC and Mac) is on sale for $34.99 for the next three hours @ MacUpdate - http://bit.ly/iiOIuN
Getting older now, my mom asked me for a Christmas list and this was the only (!) video game I mentioned. Unwrapped Civ 5 and a few books this morning, and after sitting around for like 6 hours waiting for steam to install it, I am finally about to fire it up, and I'm psyched. I've never played a Civilization game before, but hear its pretty damn "engaging".
Yeah it is totally badass. Just getting myself to stop now. I have it on super beginner mode, so its pretty much walking me through everything. Still having a good time though. I destroyed some city state and all of the other nations got pretty upset, but I'm planning on putting them in their place tomorrow.
Anyone else have performance issues with the game? I just got a new gaming laptop and the game is slooooowwwww. (I am researching as well).
The game is a resource hog. For a game that is a turnbased strategy without much micromanagement it performs terribly. It won't stand the test of time.
It runs so slow for me that I have been tempted to return back to civ4. This with a basically brand new laptop. I also could never run it in DX11 despite numerous attempts at driver updates, installation configurations, etc.
Why? I play all of the pc versions, too. I think the console version is fun and you can play through the whole game in 2-3 hours. It's cool to crack a couple beers, throw on some itunes, and play through it real quick.
