i feel you for ya bro.
i once got a ticket by one of those traffic cops when i cut off the metro bus to get to a parking lot. it wasn't that dramatic. the bus was going like 2miles per hr and i decided to pass it so i can make to my parking area downtown. the traffic cop runs into the parking lot and gives me a ticket for 'failure to maintain one lane'. i so wanted to drop an Fbomb at him.

I don't think I ever said that a judge would be fair, only that I'd resent the jury duty imposed on me, as a juror. And, it is my duty, one I've executed twice now without resentment. Both were cases that warranted consideration by a jury of peers -- a civil case about the fiduciary duty of an employee to his company, and a criminal child-rape case. I'm happy to expend my time on cases that warrant juries. I would be less happy to spend my time on a case that the judge could execute approximately as fairly (perhaps moreso considering the jury didn't find in your favor) and in a much more efficient manner.

I'm not sure, btw, why you would think a jury would be more fair than a judge. The judge at least has a professional duty to be impartial and is an expert in his craft, to counter the fact that he's probably not very interested in your case and that his boss would prefer a guilty verdict. Jurors have no reason to be biased against you, but they aren't expert, aren't interested in speeders, and have no defined ethical standard by which to make decisions.

Btw, did he get a reading from his radar gun?

I think you hired the wrong lawyer. My lawyer has gotten two different tickets dismissed in Houston. I even saw the cop there on one of my court dates and they still dismissed it. I think the lawyers you used were have so many clients that they can't dismiss all of them. Those guys are always sending mail when you get a ticket.

Your attitude in this thread is that everyone is full of **** but you. The jury probably saw through that and thought you were guilty.

I got pulled over in my neighborhood that I had lived in for 25 years on a stretch of the street that dropped to 30 from 35 and where I knew cops liked to nab people at the end of the month. I was turning left onto the street and not 100ft away was a cop who had already pulled over someone else, out his car waving me down. I asked what the problem was, he asked how fast I was going...I said 33...he writes me a ticket for 43...in case you're wondering I drive a truck and there's no way I could have reached that speed even if I wanted to, in such a short span, unless I was absolutely flooring it.

I knew I wasn't guilty...but considering the fact that it would cost MORE to dispute it (even if I was found innocent), I took defense driving instead. You get a ticket, take DD...if you can't take DD because it hasn't been a year yet...then maybe fight it...otherwise it's not worth it.

I think I've said this in another thread, but next time bring a camera and when the po-po pulls you over just keep asking what you did wrong and then post it on youtube.

well it's really not everyone it is one police man and me.

I have been pulled over before and I have always been speeding so I took DD and that was the end of it.

The DA, my lawyer, the jury and the judge has/had no clue what went on and I'm sure they did not pretend to. I assume because it was in court the jury assumed I was guilty thus putting the burden on the defense and not the state. Also I think some folks belive an officer over your everyday citizen, whatever it was they returned a guilty verdict and I have to live with it.

My record was clean and it would of been pretty silly if I was speeding to go through such a mess but it is what it is now.
