My bad: didn't recognize you as the OP. Thought it was for the first time.

if i were to make a top 15 or top 20 or so i would include movies because of different reasons. for example i would throw dazed and confused, friday, and evil dead II on the list because of the sheer number of times i have watched those movies and the memories i have from those times.

but since its only 5, i will limit it (for the most part) to movies that blew my mind.

    old boy
    the matrix
    lonesome dove
    seven
    city of god

i beg of someone to come up with a better list then mine

    1. The Dark Knight - awesome movie, my favorite of all time.
    2. Inception - Christopher Nolan knows how to make great movies.
    3. Greatest Game Ever Played - something about this movie, maybe the storyline, really makes me enjoy it. It's hard to explain.
    4. We Are Marshall - sad, but still a great movie.
    5. Hoosiers - Best basketball movie of all time, Glory Road is a close second, with The Pistol not far behind.

I know I'm in the minority, but I hated Seven. I found it boring and predictable. This was the first movie I saw with Brad Pitt in it, and it ruined me on him for almost 10 solid years before I gave him another chance.

    So, take that. ;)

    The Matrix
    Ghostbusters
    Hackers (YEAH I SAID IT)
    Infernal Affairs
    Swingers

Don't get me wrong, I like the more serious and/or thought provoking movies out there (LA Confidential, City of God, etc), but these movies have a really high replay value in my house. I'm not in a rush to experience Reqium for a Dream again any time soon.

Good call on The Prestige. Good movie... underrated I think. Is Christian Bale the best working actor right now?

I read the book first...'ruined' the movie for me, because the movie is completely different (but enjoyable).

Bale is very good, but his spoiled-actor antics put a slant on my opinion of him. I'd take Ed Norton, Daniel Day-Lewis and Gary Oldman over him.

I only enjoyed Bale in American Psycho which he was brilliant in. Since then he has been on a downward spiral. Specifically in the dark knight where I hated every second he spoke. Heath ledger owned every scene in that movie.
