One thursady night during my senior yr in college I had this girl over for a movie night. She brought over some Tiff's Treats cookies and hot coco and we both went to I Luv Video for a flick. I was going through my Asian avant garde phase so I talked her into watching Takashi Miike's Visitor Q That was the last time I ever saw her. So now I stick with my set five. ...and for the poster questioning my selection of Breaking the Waves I say this... In the ends when Jon runs out and sees the bells ringing it's Niagra Falls for any woman.
1.sex and lucia 2. the shape of things 3. catch me if you can 4. the pianist 5. insert any gael garcia movie here
I assume you're talking about movies the girl might not have seen...ie, eliminating stuff like Sleepless in Seattle, Dancing with Wolves, etc: 1. Unbearable Lightness of Being -- i honestly can't think of anything better 2. Diva 3. Like Water for Chocolate 4. Mystery Train 5a Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon 5b Eat Drink Man Woman 5c Garden State (because I needed to include a recent movie)
I'll tell you what NOT to see: What Dreams May Come. I took my wife to see that on our first date. Holy crap, that's the most depressing movie ever. I'm still amazed our date didn't crumble after watching that sh**fest (like, say, a typical Rockets 4th quarter meltdown).
lmfao. Why would you even make anyone else watch that with you? I am ashamed of watching that movie alone.
Have you seen Once? If not, you should. It'd make your list, I bet. Mentioned earlier, Sex and Lucia is incredible. Want to get laid? Great selection. Going out with a chick who isn't adverse to X-rated flicks? Here's the title of one of the very best date films in the genre, ever, and not very well known at all... Bella. Made around 1975, they used film (not video), high production values, an actual plot with actual acting, and sizzling sex. This Blade Runner's highest recommendation, for those willing to check this kind of stuff out. Femme is also an excellent date flick in the same genre, but Bella is superior.
That quote was actually said by a real live person in convicted serial killer, Edmund Kemper: In The Silence of the Lambs, Buffalo Bill, a serial killer who killed his grandparents as a teenager, is based in part on Kemper. “When I see a pretty girl walking down the street, I think two things: One part of me wants to take her home, be real nice and treat her right; the other part wonders what her head would look like on a stick." – Edmund Kemper III In American Psycho, serial killer Patrick Bateman uses this quote but it is wrongfully credited to Ed Gein. http://www.karisable.com/skazkemper.htm
