So this movie comes out tonight, and apparently is only available at one theater in the entire metro area (Alamo Draft House - Mason Rd, Katy)

I know it's gotten terrible reviews, but I still kinda want to see it.

 

I just watched it Ondemand through Comcast. Didnt want to make the drive to katy. Movie was ok but still trying to process wth I just watched.

 

Ive been wanting to see it. One of my friends watched it first thing when it was on demand and said it was absolutely horrible. I will check it out myself but we both loved Drive.

 

Ok, just got out from watching this.

Don't even bother, this movie was horrendous. It was way too slow, just a bunch of ppl looking at one another. Granted the imagery was nice, but the pace of the movie put me to sleep.

i wanted to watch this because Drive was pretty good, but Drive actually had a plot.

Loved Drive but gonna have to echo the other comments here. I'll give it a generous 4/10 only because the great visuals and I'm a fan of Ryan Gosling.

 

Damn... and I didn't like Drive. I guess this is a no-go.

Is this similar to Drive? It's basically Drive the sequel

How's the soundtrack? It's incredible

Would the average film-goer like this film? Hell no!!

What kind of film is it? Experimental, take Jodorowsky//Lynch/Mallick and mix in in your mai tai and presto!!! That's your movie

I have no idea why critics pan this movie? This kind of arthouse film is right up their alley. I could understand the general public would hate this movie because these people like their films spoon feed into their subconscious. Only God Forgives has a very simple premise and that is revenge, we've all seen that before, right? I would argue that this is a pretty average film, but a horrible film??? Not even close. Adam Sandler in a film is a horrible film, is Adam Sandler in this movie?

It's sorta like Drive meets Kill Bill without any (good) fight scenes, a much worse soundtrack and a rather dull storyline. And way too slow, indeed.

The trailers make this movie look much much better than it actually is. One of the worst movies I've seen recently, if not the worst.

This is nothing like Kill Bill, and the soundtrack is outstanding.

 

I saw it tonight. I liked it, but I can understand why most would hate it. If you go in expecting a Drive 2 you'll definitely be disappointed.

great art direction/cinematography/sound as always w/ Refn, but obviously thin and plodding plot. probably 5/10 but I'll give it a bump for overall atmosphere and hand into stomach scene (symbolism!!).

You're right, it is nothing like Kill Bill expect for the nice imagery. Disagree on the soundtrack. It's not bad, per se, but it's nowhere near the one of Drive or Kill Bill imo.
