I left off Django, Jackie Brown doesn't really count because he didn't write it so we can swap those two.
True, it is an adaptation with a little tweak from QT. Dude knows how to add a soundtrack to the movie. For those that have seen Hateful Eight, ya'll hungry for some stew?? Damn, it look so delicious especially in that setting, in a blizzard, cold as death. Yummy!!!!
I'll probably go see it again. Cause once you know the twist, it becomes a completely different movie I think.
Pretty violent, bloody and funny. Slow for a bit but then it picks up. Walton Goggins, SLJ, JJL & Demian Bichir were aces. Like Oscar worthy performances. It's worth watching and paying money for the performances alone. In 70mm it felt like I was watching a play. What really bothered me was the Tarantino narration. Completely took me out of the moment. Like the dude is a sh-t actor and a worse narrator.
the only cinema close to me is charging $17 for this week's 70mm showing is it woth it, or should i just wait for regular release for $5 all-day Tues which i normally do
The last film to be screened and shot in 70mm Ultra Panavision was in like the 60s. So it's kind of a once in a blue moon type of thing. I'd say yes if you're a film lover, western lover, not queasy with gore/violence and /or enjoy plays. i say plays because it really is like watching a theater production insofar as pacing and dialogue are concerned.
Come on Heypartner, it's just like the good ol' days!!! I think you will love it. That 70mm makes a freaking difference, my god!! I love digital just as much as the next guy but man, that 70mm projection. It's an experience for sure. Do it!
It almost feel to real of a stage production. I thought for a second John Wilkes Booth was going to shoot Lincoln again in the balcony. GO SEE IT!!!!
If you like stage productions and the slow building, manly Westerns of the past, go see it immediately. Wonderful film...
saw the 70mm roadshow yesterday and I enjoyed the experience quite a bit. It was definitely unique and being able to see something in a 70mm 2.78:1 presentation was great. Some of the wideshots were really nice. As for the movie - I enjoyed it quite a bit but I definitely would rank it probably near the bottom of the films he has done. Not because it sucked but it is not quite as good (IMO) as the other films he has done. SLJ was great in his role though. My personal QT rankings: Pulp Fiction Kill Bill (Vol 1 and 2) Reservoir Dogs Django Inglorious Jackie Brown Hateful 8
Saw it and enjoyed it, though definitely a lesser Tarantino film, in my opinion. The 70 mm was absolutely worth it and terrific to see, though. I'd rank it... Reservoir Dogs Pulp Fiction Inglorious Jackie Brown Kill Bill Django Hateful Eight
Just went to the 70mm one at Edwards. It's a good movie. Not great but a solid Tarentino movie. It's more of a play than a movie really. Like it would work just as good as a play.
