I liked Pitt in the following movies: Cool World Kalifornia True Romance Interview With the Vampire Se7en Twelve Monkeys Devil's Own Fight Club Snatch Spy Game Assassination of Jesse James Burn After Reading and King of the Hill as Boomhauer's brother.
you're right. I am the only person in the entire world who thinks Brad Pitt is a terrible actor. either that or you don't know squat about film. Pitt's movies that do actually make profit, he's surrounded by several other well established actors and movies that he's leading are bombing. Hollywood is routinely losing money on his films. Nobody wants to see him anymore. nevermind that moneyball was pulled by Columbia because the script was extremely terrible.
Because great movies are determined by the money they make. It is not about profit. Jesse James made VERY, VERY LITTLE money.
so is this a popularity contest or what? you're so all over the place it's hilarious. i await your next shockingly persuading google auto-fill snapshot.
Benjamin Button cost about 150 million; made 332 worldwide (He received an Oscar nod for Best Actor) Burn After Reading; 37 million to make; made 161 worldwide Assassination of Jesse James; 30 million to make; made 15 Ocean's 13; 85 to make; made 311 Babel; 25 to make; made 135 Mr. and Mrs. Smith; cost 111 million; made 478 worldwide Ocean's 12; cost 110; made 362 Troy; cost 175 million; made 497 worldwide Sinbad; cost 60; made 80 Those numbers seem to paint a different picture.
To say Brad Pitt is a flat out terrible actor just simply isn't based on fact. You're entitled to your own opinion on films, but I think its fairly obvious to the most people that Brad Pitt is at worst a decent actor. Just stop making stupid statements to draw attention to yourself.
thats 1.5 billion or so. not too shabby. i dont think brad pitt is the greatest actor but i think he is good enough to make/take good movies/scripts and they end of up being good movies generally. i love fight club and seven. and there are a few others i think are decent that he has done. so that is good enough for me.
Taken from IMDB and Box Office Mojo, both of which had the same numbers. They seem to be pretty accurate on most other movies. But I guess those sites decided to make an exception for Brad Pitt and pump up his numbers. Btw, all those numbers are worldwide totals, not just the ones that say it.
Hmmmmmmmmmm 12 Monkeys is certainly "something special" and Pitt is OK, I don't know why you're hating on him.
JYD, I love your brazen new concept of film, it's cute. But you're in lala land. none of those numbers you posted are net profit. those are original budgets. those numbers do not include marketing, advertising, printing etc.....not to mention distribution costs/splits...... try again.
Man Fight Club was CLASSIC! <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/z6-wy-YBkKY&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/z6-wy-YBkKY&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
1) i am not serb, so you would have to satiate your already well-established-on-this-board serb-hatred by finding an actual serb to spit on 2) you can still message me through the board if you'd like to come get to me in person anyways - i would be more than happy to help make this happen
Wait, should we all get on our knees and worship you who watches indie films only? We're all so cute with out uneducated un-Landlord Landry views on film! With your enlightened perspectives on acting and the economics of movie-making, who are we to contradict your opinions? You'd make a great critic, though. I heard that being pretentious is a prerequisite for the job.
With the exception of Jesse James and Sinbad, all his movies in the past 6 years...all the ones I've listed...made more than double, and even triple, it's estimated budget. Now from this article here, it mentions the trouble Benjamin Button had; the marketing costs were a hefty 135 million, and the break even point for the studio was around 300 million. So it did surpass that in box office receipts, albeit barely. But it seems Button's troubles were more to due with hefty production costs. You could put any bankable star in Brad Pitt's role and it probably would have made about the same amount of money. His past three movies, in fact, have been of the more art-house variety; movies that wouldn't traditionally net a huge profit. You look at the five films prior to Jesse James, they all more than tripled (except for Troy which still came close) their estimated budget. Although, despite Babel's relative success compared to it's estimated budget, it apparently didn't make money. From this article, the lack of profit generated by Babel and other indie films seems to be caused by the growing costs associated with producing them, and less because of Brad Pitt. So it seems his artsy films barely break even, which is true about most such movies, regardless of who stars. And his blockbusters were successes. But perhaps more indicative of his profitability and talent as an actor, is he continues to get plenty of work. I mean jeez, the guy just received a best acting nomination for Benjamin Button and received another nom for 12 monkeys. He's won more than a dozen other awards for acting, awards given to him by critics, peers and fans. And besides, you said nobody wants to see him anymore, which is clearly untrue based on the numbers I gave you. If you hate Brad Pitt that's fine...but don't try and act like his movies bomb or that he's not talented.
I seriously doubt he has good taste in movies. Check the "Rate the last movie you watched" thread to see some prime examples. He picks well-received movies and trashes them for moronic reasons. Nobody should be taking anything he says seriously. He's just trying to troll.
