Fun movie. It's been a long time since I've seen 2 movies in a row that I REALLY enjoyed.

Awesome, awesome movie. Everything Christopher Waltz did in this movie was gold.

Other than Pulp Fiction (and for me, Reservoir Dogs), this is one of the best films Tarantino has ever put together.

I'm glad this thread was bumped. Just finished watching this movie. Awesome storyline. First ever blu-ray movie seen via netflix. Waltz definitely kept my attention.

You should never watch a Tarantino movie if you don't like to see unnecessary violence. My guess is you didn't like Pulp Fiction, Reservior Dogs, and Kill Bill as well.

Saw this the other day and thought it was bloody terrible.

For all the talk of it being violent, it wasnt THAT violent.

I though it was boring and really poorly written.

    And the story.....so utterly stuipid!

dude, no offense, but not everybody has to agree with each other in this thread.

the Onion article posted here is exactly the way I feel when I posted on the first or second page how I feel about QT now.

after seeing Inglorious Basterds, I feel no differently. He is so transparent in his work and I continue to picture him laughing at how brilliant he is.
the bottom line for me and a few posters here, is that he is not that brilliant, and his best works are behind him.

Kill Bill 3 might come next.

    really? Kill Bill 3?

Christoph Waltz.....best actor in this movie as Col. Hans Landa ...I was memorized. All the little gestures properness was amazing.

Yes, really. Can't wait for it.

One scene in Basterds that captures QT's masterful ability to build up a scene with dialog was in the beginning with Col. Landa and the Frenchman. Watching Landa breakdown Lapadite to give up the Jews he was hiding was chilling, about as chilling as watching the coin flipping scene in No Country for Old Men imo.

Sometimes QT can get carried away with dialog(Death Proof), but I thought Basterds may have been his best yet besides Pulp Fiction.

i thought it was great! there were a few holes that the viewer is forced to draw their own conclusions on, but tarrantino does that all the time (the contents of the briefcase in pulp fiction).

i thought is was odd that the movie spent as little time on the basterds as it did. how much of the movie was brad pitt actually in? maybe 40%? landa's and the girl's stories were really cool too, so i dont think its a bad thing, but for a movie called 'inglorious basterds', the story really didnt focus on the basterds as much as i would have thought. im mean, they go from pitt recruiting them to the next scene they are already the most feared group by the nazis. not even a rocky-style montage of them developing their reputation/terrorizing their way into the hearts and minds of the nazis.

and also, it wasnt really as gory as i was expecting based on what i was hearing about it.

According to search, this is the only Inglorious thread, so I'm resurrecting it.

I finally saw this, and I enjoyed it more than a lot of Tarantino, but oh my was Brad Pitt ever terrible. It's like he didn't even study a smoky mtns accent for five minutes before the first shoot. I can't remember the last time I saw an accent that bad.

I guess it was intentional, and some sort of I'm-so-cool Tarantino joke, but since it absolutely ruined every scene Pitt was in... not-so-cool. Did love the German hunter guy though. That actor was incredible. And of course, Laurent, as has been pointed out already.

Yeah, the bad Pitt accent and stilted delivery was part of the parody. Just think about all the athletes and other non-actors who were making war or cowboy movies back then:

Classic Tarantino. what was the Picasso quote? "good artists borrow, great artists steal."?
