This is Berg's follow up to the critically acclaimed and financially successful 'Battleship'. The wonderful people at Comcast/Universal feel this is their ticket to the Oscars thus releasing it during awards season. Mark Wahlberg, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster & Jerry Ferrara all struggle to hit 5'7" on a good day, making them ideal for portraying decorated Navy Seals. Instant classic. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/BMFLzf-DXXU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
the book is excellent, written by the Lone Survivor or that mission Marcus Luttrell his fellow SEAL Mike Murphy won the Medal of Honor for what the film is about spoilers <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/irC4K7Q4JCo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I saw Lutrell speak at a corporate conference last year. Certainly a no-nonsense with a horrible but incredible story.
Incredible story, I loved the book and will look forward to the movie. I am just about to finish reading "American Sniper" by Chris Kyle, also about Navy Seals - another incredible story and also, I believe being made into a movie.
That's a Spielberg & Bradley Cooper picture. I'll see if half price book store has a copy, the reviews on it are good. But that's as far as I'm gonna go with this. I can suspend my disbelief for things like giant robots fighting inter dimensional giant monsters, alien humanoid who has godlike powers on earth and fly's around in a red cape or cheetah fast zombies laying waste to humanity. But I draw the line at Hollywood casting a 5'5" mediocre actor/convicted felon in the role of a 6'5" heroic Navy Seal. Plus, i hate Comcast... and Taylor Kitsch.
If the movie is half as good as the book, it will be an instant classic. Lone Survivor may be the best book I have ever read. Highly recommended.
Gave me a Act of Valor vibe, but with much more potential. Will definitely have to check out the book before this comes out in December.
