The Great Gatsby was an amazing book, but the movie trailer just seemed really, really boring.

Nope, because I had doubts Yann could outdo himself with what he did with the epic ending of Life of Pi. I mean his writing isn't that great to begin with, and if I read something of his with no twist it would probably be a waste of time.

There's a twist, although the bar was set so high with Pi.

Was the twist the part where the whole story was fake?

Fantastic movie! Stunning visuals throughout the film.

Some people may consider it as Cast Away part 2, but the film holds its own during the similar mini-plots.

9/10 review for me - Makes you think too, if you hadn't read the book (I partially read it).

Wow. I bow down to Ang Lee. Wonderfull film. Great use of the 3D and even better CGI use. Great story for the whole family.

It makes you really think about life. Great visuals.

Just one question cause i had to leave before it ended. He said something about his mother, the cook, and someone, or another story to the reporters. Which was the real story? The tiger and him or his mother story?

For making me think about life, I'd give it 9/10. I wanted some crazy **** to go down tho.

You need to use spoilers for those who havent read the book.

There is no 'real' story, it's all subjective, which is the point.

Good movie. However, there are too many Indians in it. I can't relate to these people. They should have made the characters Americans.

Lol you clearly didn't get it. I have only read the book, not the movie. This is my interpretation:

from what I remember, the tiger is him. the zebra is his mother. the hyena is the cook. so the cook did eat his mother because he was starving. the whole story is him overcoming all these things that happened to him. i forgot what the orangutan was.

anyway all these animals if you think about it form a tiger. The zebra (stripes) the orangutan (the color) the hyena (feline)

I can understand many people not getting the movie after the first viewing... me and a friend had to have a discussion about the book after we read it before we could fully understand what was going on.

    By the way,

the reason for him making up that story about the animals is because the other story is just too tragic to tell

The zebra is a sailor with a broken leg. The orangutan is his mother. The hyena is the cook and the tiger is himself.
