Spoiler did u miss the part when they were at Skyfall where they showed the tombstone of both Bond's parents?
Notice all the agents call M 'mom' when talking to her. It's probably just code so they don't reveal her actual name.
I really enjoyed it. Much more in the vein of Craig's Casino Royale, with an added layer of wit and humor, and some twists and turns. Sets up the next couple of Bond films very nicely. Craig is easily the best Bond since Sean Connery. It's hard to believe it's been 50 years since I sat in theatre and was blown away by Dr. No.
Best looking Bond film ever. Roger Deakins proves again to be the best cinematographer ever. The acting was steller, particularly from Bardem and Q. I did think the pacing was a bit slow, especially during the beging. And the action sequences were nothing special but the again Sam Mendes is a theater director. The film is worth seeing if only for Javier Bardem, who proves that pound for pound he's one of the top 5 actors working in Hollywood. He delivers again on another great movie villain.
Bardem seemed more of a technical well planned infiltrator with his hacker skills than a brutish bond that Craig portrayed. He could fight but it's not his style. The only badass 1-on-1 master student action Bardem would go for is a different variety.
Just saw with my Mum, and daughter. Not as zany and flashy as the Late 90's early 2000s bonds but still good movie.
I don't think they're calling her "mom" but rather "ma'am." It just sounds like mom because of the accent. Heard the same thing during the London Olympics.
not sure if serious, but there were several TDK themes in this movie. Bardem wanting to be captured, his overall Joker "isms" and I'm pretty sure Bond said "a storm's coming." Even so, it did not take away from the fact that it was a solid Bond.
Spoiler Terrific film. Skyfall provides elements of old and new James Bond tradition all into one. I also enjoyed the opening motorcycle scene in Hungary and the Macau casino setup. It's funny cuz I was watching Dark Knight yesterday and Bardem DID remind me of Joker with his laugh. It's also intriguing to see Ralph Fiennes as the new M. Seems like an appropriate fit. Skyfall narrowly edges Casino Royal in my opinion
I saw it today and loved it. Big, big fan of Craig. Glad to hear he's got at least 2 more in him. Spoiler So Ms Moneypenny is going from hunting down spies to being a receptionist?
Spoiler She's the secretary of M in many of the previous Bond films. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miss_Moneypenny
Just saw it, was a stark contrast from the 90's bond I grew up on- BUT for the better. I've liked each of the bonds so far starting with casino royals and up. They're getting better with each installment
No, its a sign if respect in British culture. It also occurs in Doctor Who with their respective secret agency (the name escapes me right now) as well.
I thought M's name was Emma and so it was short? Don't know, not a big deal to me. Saw it today, would rate it 7/10. It was fun but wouldn't go out there asking people to go check it out. Too many of the "I can kill you now but I won't" moments for my taste.
In casino Royale, when bond breaks into M's flat he says to her "I thought M was just a randomly assigned letter code, I had no idea it also stood for" and then M tells him and if he utters another word she will have him killed.
The title sequence is probably one of the best in decades. Adele's song was amazing and added to all the animations.
