    Saw the movie yesterday.

I really wanted to like it, but for some reason, it just didn't do it for me. These epic blockbuster monster movies are what I eagerly anticipate every summer, but I came away from this with a very ehhh feeling.

I wouldn't say it was necessarily a bad movie, and there were parts that were indeed very entertaining, its just that at the end, when all is said an done, I left the theater very underwhelmed. To be fair, I think the new director did a great job on certain aspects, and I did like the buildup. I think it was the correct choice not showing Godzilla too much because you kind of appreciate him more when he is there. However, despite the great special effects, the fight scenes got old really fast. It was the same roar, attack, bite, grab, fly away. Maybe I am tired of Godzilla.

Will girls in San Antonio be offended by this since Godzilla is portrayed as male and not the other way around?

Definitely a solid movie, but didn't live up to my expectations at all and probably wouldn't watch it again. Summer Blockbusters tend to disappoint and this was no exception.

I seldom like the human part of these stories. I am looking forward to seeing it. Monster movies are my guilty pleasure.

Damn, didnt expect all the neg reviews here on CF. Dont know if you expected wall to wall fights like Pacific Rim (I suspect some of the brehs did) but I however enjoyed the slow burn and build up. The payoff made me shower the audience with j*zz. But seriously this movie was awesome, sure the characters could have been a little better but they were still pretty good and moved the story along. What this really did for me was bring me back to when I was a kid watching Jurrasic Park for the first time, I was in absolute awe at many points in the movie, and that rarely, if ever, happens now. The cinematography was bar none the best I've seen in a long time and this movie made me forget about its flaws which is a feat.

Long story short: Brings back movie magic imo. Made me feel awe inspired many times.
    8.5/10

Thanks. I'm still pretty psyched and will see it next weekend. I think some of our Clutchfans thought this movie, like Monta Ellis, could have it all. Once they saw Cranston and Watanabe in it, it looked suddenly like a serious drama *and* a kick-ass monster movie.

However, if it's really true to the mid-era of Godzilla, it will have a lot of putrid human story lines with glimpses of monsters leading up to the final battle. Even as a little kid, I had to roll my eyes and the supposedly riveting humans running around trying to uncover alien schemes while I was awaiting Godzilla.

I'm going ignore list any CF member who gives that movie a positive review, if that review is based on acting / plot / directing. :p

Why is everyone crapping on the human aspect of Godzilla? The movie is about the monster, no?

Although I did hear that Cranston "passes the torch" to Johnson in this movie, which is like going from acting nirvana to...crap. That might be a reason to temper expectations.

I'm with you, Sometimes I feel like CF is filled with alot of your typical bro types. The type of guy that if an episode of Game of Thrones comes out and someone doesnt die it means it was boring and just filler. The type of guy that says Godfather is boring. The type of guy that hates Toy Story :( . The type of guy that refuses to see Hunger Games because he thinks he'll grow a vagina. Etc.

I saw it last night and enjoyed it very much.... The cinematography was amazing and the direction of the film in my opinion was very thought out and well done without a sense of "rushing" the very end. I don't know what people were expecting..... This was suppose to be a more serious and dark Godzilla than that other version that came out a while back in 1998..... That Godzilla was probably more in line with what people were expecting. A lot of explosions and BS........

I give this movie a 9/10 will blueray so I can watch it again without 3D goggles... People sometimes want to go into a movie and watch it as a movie reviewer and critic instead of just letting the movie entertain them. I let the movie do what it was suppose to do instead of questioning why there is a giant lizard fighting a giant weird monster/bat thing...... I loved it :)... Good times..

I loved it. Good old fashioned summer blockbuster movie. Didn't realize the main guy was Kick-Ass. The monster battles were pretty intense.

Godzilla glowing blue then shooting that blue whatever out if it's mouth was awesome. It was like seeing it evolve and shoot a hyperbeam in real life.
