I don't think he will be overlooked in favor of Eisenberg, and definitely not in favor of Timberlake. His final scene was perfection.
Eisenberg will likely get a nomination for best actor, and I have a really strong feeling about Garfield winning as supporting actor. I think the "Ambush" scene is what will seal it for him.
I don't mean that he would beat out Eisenburg for the same award. I just meant that his role was not overshadowed, thus giving him a great chance to win his award.
Okay late to the party, but I thought Garfield killed it. I didn't recognize him, so when I got home I googled his name and found out he's the next Spiderman. (I read the thread about the new Spiderman, but I didn't know who Garfield was at the time.) I'm much more excited about that movie now.
ah, okay. I gotcha. but......I'll reiterate that this was not his best performance of the year... this was... <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sXiRZhDEo8A?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sXiRZhDEo8A?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> I hope wins something for either role. Never Let Me Go should win best film of the year though. god damn stunning film.
also, I think the guy that played the role of the Winkelvoss twins did a fantastic job. I honestly didnt know it was one person playing both roles until after I watched the movie.
If you're a fan of this movie I highly recommend you getting the 2-disc box set. The second disk is an amazing behind the scenes footage of everything that went into making this movie. It's incredible the amount of detail that Sorkin and Fincher put into the story getting the actors to play the characters the way they wanted them to be seen. Correcting actors if they used the word "any" instead of "every" they did not want the actors to deviate from the script at all. They showed the entire process from Sorkin and Fincher doing a quick read with the actors at a round table which turned out to be really them wanting the actors to hear a back and forth between the two on what each scene meant. The Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross behind the scenes on creation of the soundtrack was also interesting. Very interesting to watch two musically geniuses put together a track and how they incorporate it into the movie. As with the main theme of the movie and the piano how you "can hear the innocence with the slow piano, yet there is a seething element behind it to let you know there is something more going on here." <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/1Ua2gabdJoc?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/1Ua2gabdJoc?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> Very interesting to those who want to see the creative process that goes into making a movie of this caliber.
supposedly it was the first time these 2 met <object width="512" height="288"><param name="movie" value="http://www.hulu.com/embed/YC5kRfiZfSoI4hBiAZ2sGw"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.hulu.com/embed/YC5kRfiZfSoI4hBiAZ2sGw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="512" height="288" allowFullScreen="true"></embed></object> scripted or not? Eisenburg did look uncomfortable and at the end, they shook hands and hugged, so who knows....
nah. chick flicks are usually pretty hollow and fluffy. Never Let Me Go is not a superficial romance film. The cinematography is stunnining. The plot is fictitious but the characters are extremely believeable and geniune. I do think some of the roles are overacted and the score tries to make the film way more epic than it should be...but I stil think it is far better than Black Swan or Social Network.
I haven't seen the movie, but it is my all-time favorite book and no way is it a chick flick. It is a horror romance if anything and even that doesn't even label it well, it is difficult to classify.
