    Really? We could put army into space with our current technology? You must be dreaming or high on something.

    Not really. Space elevator, hydrogen fuel from moon water, materials from space junk refining and asteroids. It's all about money. Going somewhere fast isn't on the table though.

    I thought about that too. I saw him in Sawdogs, it wasn't great, but it wast horrible either. When the hell is King Bill gonna get some roles?

    As to this movie, my 9 year old daughter wants to see it so I will probably take her. It doesn't look like a blockbuster, but it does look tolerable.

    the key was to try and fool the other player how you arranged your ships, i would cluster them together and them leave the little one all by itself away from the cluster, or just lie

    operation = nip/tuck
    memory = memento
    clue = clue
    stratego = the patriot (mel gibson version)
    monopoly = boiler room
    mouse trap = stuart little

    ok so went to the premire last night it was fun

    but the movie itself ...eh i mean its an action film pretty chock full of cliches and plot holes - definitely not a movie that is going to get by on its story line

    things that bothered me:
    the aliens have this system that determines what is "neutral" and what is a "threat" this was shown several times throughout the movie but nothing was done to explain why they found certain things to be threats while they didnt find people to be threats unless they attacked first - for a supposed race trying to conquer a planet they were quiet nice towards to humans

    the terrible way they brought up the game of battleship itself in the movie and using it to attack the alien ships.

    there is a scene where nagata and hopper jump off a sinking destroyer and they should have been killed or at least crushed by debris but it just cuts to the next scene where they are being rescued.

    seriously there are a crap load of plot holes makes it hard to stomach at times

    the one cool thing but of course the general movie going population may not know but one of the main characters lost his legs and he is a real retired colonel from the army. He got a loud standing ovation at the premiere along with all the other servicemen in the audience. but the guy is a terrible actor (of course thats not what he was trained to be) but his delivery was just poor and while i knew he wasnt an actor but a guy they got to add realism to the film I appreciated his effort and thought he did a great job considering those circumstances. But if i just went to the movie and didnt know all this background info about the guy I would have thought this guy is a terrible actor and i would have thought the legs were cgi or something.

    either way i would give this a 3/10 at best.

    I liked it. Horribly cliched in parts, and the four main characters (disney guy, japanese captain, rhianna and matt damon jr) were all able to run every part of the missile cruiser, lead attack squads and were experienced snipers. But it had some cool parts, the aliens were more fleshed out than most alien-invasion aliens, and I really liked the nod to the veterans.

    All of that aside, I'm glad it was only a matinee. Not worth more than $5. I think a second viewing of Avengers would have been money better spent.

    I do think that the military has a lot to do with these summer pro-military movies like transformers, gijoe and now battleship. It's great PR for them in the recruiting game.

    I don't see how the heck this thing cost 200m, though. Maybe spent on boat fuel?

    Why not make a kick ass movie about actual battleship battles from WW2 instead of doing some kind of sci fi thing?

    Because it's already been proven by the transformers movies that you can make a ton of money off of a bad script and cool cgi.

    Really a 3/10 at best? It wasn't the best movie ever made, but come on it was pretty good IMO. Definitely not a block buster but it's worth going to see. I'd probly give it a 6/10. It was cliche at parts but the battleship fight scenes were AWESOME.

    yeah any movie with Rihanna or a pop star desperate to break out onto the silver screen isn't getting my money...

    or even an illegal download.

    Movie was fun.

    They never really explained why the aliens were so passive one on one with humans.
