I don't know, it looks like it could be fun. Did anyone tell the folks that made this thing that our battleships are in mothballs? Uh, $240,000,000?? Could the producers spare some change for the US government?
He only kissed Sookie. There's no banging yet. Besides, given his relationship with his maker, Mr. Northman may well find fulfilling relationships with crew members of both genders.
I actually liked Battle LA...sure the characters were all pretty one-dimensional, but the action was kick-ass and non-stop. And the trailers for that looked nothing like this turd. This looks more like Skyline.
From this trailer it looks like the director did a good job bringing out the romantic subtext and shipboard politics that can be tough for the casual player to pick up in the game.
Peter Berg (of Friday Night Lights and The Kingdom) directed it. Universal Studios originally made a deal with Berg that if he made this movie (Battleship) first they would allow him to make the picture he REALLY wanted to make. That movie was the film version of the national bestseller "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrell. That film will begin shooting around January of 2012. My take? If creating Battleship is what it takes to bring Lone Survivor to the cinema then more power to em. If you are unaware of "Lone Survivor" do yourself a favor and read the book. It is one of the most gut wrenching and powerful books I have ever read. A story every American should know about.
Fawking Transformers on water. This sh-t looks so horrible. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YatZXieJsL4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
lulz... they even recycled Transformers sound effects. It's horrible and I hope they lose their asses on it and then learn to spend money on more original fare.
This movie just passed 200m globally and it hasn't even launched in the US yet. I think they shot themselves in the foot for the US market making it PG-13; the only people who were excited about the trailer attached to the Avengers were the kids (my son included).
If we are actually invade by space aliens, the chance of us winning is about zilch. You don't upload computer virus to the mother ship and the technology that can create galactic space ships will make our technology look less advanced than native tribes look to us.
Debatable. We have no clue of what super-advanced think-tanks like DARPA have developed. They're a good 10-20 years in front of public tech.
Do you have any idea what it take to create a mother ship that is capable of carrying an army in space? We could nuke the earth to dust planet with out technology, aliens would be able to totally wipe us out if they wish when they get here.
I'll be attending the world premiere tomorrow night in LA. I guess i'll know if it was 240 million well spent or a modern day waterworld. The movie looks a bit silly but has a lot of pretty cool visual effects which will do it for me I guess the bonus is that I wont have to pay for it.
We could do it now, given unlimited money. But it's not about getting our forces into space, it's about successfully defending our planet. The Apaches drove the US Army nuts for years with way less resources.
