Wow! Affleck and Bigelow were snubbed.

Argo was a fantastic film, maybe my favorite of the year, but Affleck's performance was so understated (deliberately so), I think he did himself a disservice. It wasn't a flashy enough performance to gain a nod.

Bigelow is a surprise. I haven't seen it yet, but from all accounts, "Zero Dark Thirty" is fantastic film. Maybe backlash from folks left wanting from "Hurt Locker"?

I was referring to the directing nod considering his DGA nomination and all. That dude was campaigning for it like no ones business. That category will probably have the most controversy this year. But at least they left off that hack Tom Hopper.

I think he means he was snubbed for the directing nod.

I've only seen Silver Lining Playbooks, but will definitely see Argo, Django and Zero Dark Thirty. I didn't want to see Life of Pi until I was told what happens. Now I kinda want to see it.

I don't have a babysitter within an hour of me, I went to the theater once this past year and that was for The Dark Knight Rises (Which was underwhelming).

 I KNOW how you feel. BELIEVE ME.

I'm going to invent the first "kids are welcome" theater... HEY, THAT'S NOT BAD IDEA!!!!

To all these people wanting Ben Affleck to get nominated... it's sarcasm, right?

Affleck is actually a pretty outstanding director. I've enjoyed the films he's directed.

Agreed. The Town and Argo were both great movies he's directed. The pacing in Argo that built up to the final scene was amazing.

Was about to laugh at the both of you and talk about how awesome it is to be 25 and do whatever I want whenever I want.

Then I realized that I, too, have not seen any of these movies. :(

Ah yes, I see he was snubbed for that as well. Yes, very wrong. His work behind the camera on Argo was great. Did a great job building the tension, even if you knew what was going to happen. Great storytelling.

Honestly, who would you kick out of Actor in a Leading roll for Affleck? I think they chose the right five.

I still don't see how Affleck could be a better director than Lee or Spielberg. It's an opinion... so he wasn't "snubbed." Don't be mad, bros.
We do... because those movies are probably going to be discounted at the local or online movie retailer under the "nominated for an Oscar in 2013" label or something.

I've seen a large chunk of the films on there, no complaints on my end outside of Bigelow on the directing end.

I think you should call it the "screaming kids theater." I'll be sure to avoid it ;)

In all seriousness, why isn't there a movie theatre/daycare (for kids under 3)/jungle gym (for kids 3-12) combo. It would be expensive, but such a place would make a killing. Imagine how many parents want to get away from the kids for a couple of hours to relax and see a movie.
