You're right. It's always best when foreign rivals commit espionage against your democracy, to just not say anything and let it slide. Way to go to all the people who dared to think there should be investigations and reprisals against such things. What a silly idea.

That's especially true to those who feed at the trough of such disrespected journalistic institutions like the Washington Post and NY Times. They should be getting their information from much more reputable places.

Those are national security issues not public debate issues. We have the largest defense budget in the world, they have enough resources to handle that **** themselves. They don't need the WashingtonCompost or the NYSlowTimes. Only reason they are involved is because one side lost and they are being sore losers.

There are plenty of international security issues (much worse than this) that we never hear about because that stuff is kept quiet as it should be.

Serious? You have no clue how classified information works. You can't just become a US senator, get a clearance and all of sudden have every state secret of the US. Having a clearance only means you have passed a background check and met the criteria. If you want classifed information, you have to be read onto that specific program. Yes, at one time, classified information was readily available, but you can thank Manning and Snowden for putting a stop to that.

I'm explicitly referring to the senators in the Senate intelligence committee who attended the CIA debrief at the Senate last week who DO have access to a top secret clearance.

Russia challenges US to prove campaign hacking claims or shut up

(CNN)The United States must either stop accusing Russia of meddling in its elections or prove it, a spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday.

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it was "indecent" of the United States to "groundlessly" accuse Russia of intervention in the US election campaign, Russian state news agency Tass reported.

"They should either stop talking about that or produce some proof at last. Otherwise it all begins to look unseemly," Peskov reportedly said about the latest accusations that Russia was responsible for hacker attacks.

Johnson: CIA 'withholding' information on Russian hacking - POLITICO

"Senate Homeland Security Chairman Ron Johnson on Friday said the CIA denied his request for a briefing on its findings about Russian cyberattacks allegedly designed to influence the election.

“I’m not happy they denied a briefing to me,” the Wisconsin Republican told a public radio interviewer in his home state on Friday morning. “I need information from the administration, and right now they're withholding it.”

He added in a statement: “It is disappointing that the CIA would provide information on this issue to the Washington Post and NBC but will not provide information to elected members of Congress.”

Johnson is the second congressional committee chairman in three days to charge that intelligence officials are leaving lawmakers in the dark as interpretations of Russian meddling in the election are leaked to the press."

Who is more credible, in general, President Obama or Julian Assange?

I think you're missing some key ingredients. The media reports on important events. The Russians hacking and trying to interfere with our election is an important event. It is something that has is new and has not happened before. It is newsworthy. It was magnified because Trump foolishly lied about how reliable the CIA is, and has tried to cover for Russian intervention before. This all happens at the same time as his pick for SoS is a guy who was awarded the order of Russian friendship by Putin. Any media that is not covering this, is not doing their job.

That being said, it wouldn't have been near as big of a story if Trump hadn't tweeted and tried to deny our intelligence community.

Keeping other issues quiet is a different matter and doesn't change what happened with Russia's interference and strike at our democratic elections.

That question is a bit broad and an attempt to distract from the issue....but with respect to Wikileaks and the source of the leaks? I would have to say Assange without a doubt. He has a perfect record and he doesn't have much reason to lie. He has attacked the left and the right as well. Did you doubt him with any of the other major wikileaks over the past decade?

I know you are fighting the good partisan fight, but I think you have to consider reexamining your position at some point. The head of the organization responsible for bringing the leaks to the public makes a straightforward denial that any government was responsible for the leaks. Additionally, he bluntly states "If Donald Trump make a lot of enemies on the inside in his time in office then he could well face the same thing in 4 years time" at the end of the interview. It was almost an accidental admission that the leaks came from inside the Clinton camp.

I know you won't change your mind, but I thought this was interesting information to put out considering the source.

Are we talking about the same cyberattack where it was revealed that head of the DNC illegally gave Hillary the questions to the debate?

You do know that Jillian Assange has an active vendetta against Hillary(justifiable or not is a matter of opinion) well before wikileaks.

He is no where near a non-baised/partisan opinion. He has had a grudge against Hillary since 2010 and that has been well established.

So...Assange who vowed to take down Hillary by any means necessary, and who is living in hiding under an arrest warrant and claims that he will be assassinated by the CIA at any second, and who has a cozy history of providing propaganda for use by and for Russia Today, Putin's propaganda arm - fits your definition of an impartial observer with a "perfect record"

Meanwhile, the current President, the entirety of the National Security apparatus, with access to a lot more information than has been disclosed (though the public portion has been painstakingly documented here), who is known for nothing if not rationality, believes otherwise - is just making the whole thing up.

Trump is going to be as bad as we thought, because useful idiots like yourself are going to allow him to be.

MSNBC and CNN are garbage these days but accusing the Washington Post of being fake news is straight up laughable. They've been around for 140 years and have a long history of actual journalism including breaking the Watergate story.

ALso you should add "exposes corrupion on only one side in order to manipulate U.S. voters".

Unless you believe the RNC is immaculate or that Trump's private sector history is immaculate.

    Because idiots
    a. scan through these leaked emails and play the 6 degrees of separation game which leads to "Hillary was a mastermind in a child molestation ring"
b.Or just read the click bait titles of sites like Breibart who played the 20 degrees of separation game for you and just go by their word.
