These guys are idiots no doubt about it. What worries me even more than this event itself is what possible backlash this could cause among extremists Muslims. As I said with the "Draw Muhammed Day" I support the right to free expression to the point that I support the right of these guys to burn someone's holy book. That said what is the purpose other than hate to do so and in what is a charged atmosphere already between religions why go out of your way to inflame tensions more?

You see, I thought the same exact thing. It's freedom of expression. But how do you think these people would react if a bunch of Muslims set up camp in front of their book burning, and started burning the American flag?

Just freedom of expression right? I would be a lot more supportive of their right to do what they are going to do if I knew it wasn't mired in a sea of hypocrisy.

Is Kenny Rogers the pastor of this church?

This is ridiculous, as Christians, we should be excited and loving on other people of other religons..

"the quran is causing people to go to hell"
well your definatley not helping muslims become christians...

i hope that no one here sees christianity in a negative light after reading this..

i'm in youth ministry, and i'll be the first to say this guy is an r-tard..

Real Christians would never do this.

This is called religious extremism. Not Christian extremism.

FYI, Christianity and religion are terms that do not go together. Jesus hates any form of behaivor that belittles another group of people, Christ believers, or not.

Jesus hates religion in general, because being religious means it's all about you (doing external outwardly duties) feeling like you have to earn His love, and it doesn't work that way.

If that's how you view it then there's no problem in that. Pretty much the same goes for Muslims as well then. Real Muslims wouldn't kill innocents, etc and OBL and his cult shouldn't be called Islamic extremism in that case, but just religious extremism as you said.

It has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with being power-hungry. IMO

No one should be able to label another person "Muslim" or "Chrsitian". I think only we can put these labels on ourselves, and only God can verify it. Despite knowing this, we carry on labelling others and labelling ourselves. It's so unusual.

It would be very bad if a bunch of Muslims started burning copies of the Bible.

Such a sad thing for these people to do - you'd think that god-fearing people would know better than to do something like this.

I agree. Even actions that are considered "progressive" is just another way for humans to destroy themselves, or dissolve themselves over time.

The Draw A Muhammad Day at least could be done by people who don't give a flip about ANY KIND of religion altogether. Religions disrespecting other religions, its absolute HYPOCRISY piled on top of the ignorance that makes its a terribly lame situation.

Some of the rationale they use:
It LOOKS like? Thats what they're going off of?

"" It looks to me like Mexicans are always angry, look at them all in violent outrage about Arizona laws. As they're in America getting opportunity do they look happy doing it? Lets have a Mexico flag burning event... ""

I think wanting population control is just as callous even though its intelligent and sensible, but sometimes I wonder...

I think that was sarcasm. People always talk about the supposed hate being preached at mosques even though it isn't preached at all so he just said that in a sarcastic manner IMO.

    I can blame 'em.

and on behalf of the Church, i'm deeply sorry for the pain and anger this sort of thing causes.

It is such a sad thing, but I wouldn't necessarily think they would know better. Some, yes, many, probably... but not all. Some people just don't know where the lines are... or like to push them. Extreme provocation and stupidity is not reserved to any one group or people.

I wish people would mirror this view, especially this church. Just because a very small portion of a group does something extreme, doesn't mean you can assume most people of the group are exactly like that nor can you assume that the cause is the ideology of the group.

lol, as a Muslim, this doesn't cause me pain and anger. It confuses me, yes. Why? Just get along...but am I angry and ready to protest? No. I have better **** to worry about, just keeping on moving forward..

I think one of the biggest problems with religion is that too much of it is driven by fear rather than understanding or love..

It's funny you should say this, as if it's some sort of different argument from extremism. That church would call themselves Christians. Thus, it is Christian extremism. It doesn't matter if it's one church or a hundred; extremism is extremism.

It's also funny that a lot of people apply this logic to Christians ("Oh, they're just extremists!") but not Muslims.

Humanity is funny in their ignorance, hypocrisy, and genuine filthiness of character. My cynicism grows.
