Sure whatever, I have had my wife bark at me alot lately and it almost seemed to fall in the same category. On another note, as far as I'm concerned...Hoopsworld is the worst site on the net. Hoopshype on the other hand is pretty credible and always offer some sort of a link. I know some of their journalists and dont appreciate you bashing a good site. I do think you thought of hoopsworld at first so I'll let it slide. GO RoX
Pal, hoopshype never reports anything as fact. Every one of their stories is posted under a section called RUMORS. Inside that RUMORS section are links to newspaper stories around the country, which naturally have widely varying degrees of accuracy. However, a newspaper article is as close as anyone can get to fact, so I'm failing to understand why you would be so quick to "call bs" on it. All you had to do was go to the hoopshype front page to see what he was talking about, as it's the top story. You would have seen it was from the Charlotte Observer. Why would you "call bs" on something before you even bothered looking at it? Hoopsworld, on the other hand, is some random guy posting his own thoughts, which are often completely fabricated. Remember: Hoopshype=good, Hoopsworld=very very bad.

Just wanted tot ake this quick opportunity to respond to those few inevitable posters who will start complaining : 'Why didn't WE get/go after Ely?? The Spurs got him, we sat on our hands, and now they are going to kill us! CD sucks!' blah blah blah. We just got another chance to see that guy just the other night, and, well, the guy can't play. He sucked. Be thankful the Spurs now have him on their team.
One really would think that Rockets fans, of all people, wouldn't be enamored with a poor man's Swift (Ely). I guess some people will forever believe that size & athleticism equates to production.
Perhaps true in years passed but Chucky is having a career year at the age 32. He could be what Anthony Johnson is to the Mavs. Just a veteran PG who you always know what your going to get from. This is the best Chucky has ever shot the ball, his turnover ratio is low and his assist ratio is the highest its ever been. If given the choice between letting the damn thing expire or picking up a proven pg for nothing Its hard not to give Chucky a chance. Low risk, potentially high reward
Agreed the fact that he would put HoopsHype on the same level of Hoopsworld proves hes out of line, funny thing is he knows it.
Atkins has an excellent A/TO (above 3). Atkins has an excellent point per shot (1.39). So for all your ancedotes, the proof is the trends. He is a very efficient offensive player on a really bad team, usually being on a bad team makes that more difficult. Now his defense is suspect, fine. He wouldn't be brought here for defense, Rafer is doing a fine job in defense and running the team. Overall I think 30 minutes to Rafer and 18 minutes to Atkins would very much raise the offensive efficiency and production with modest impact on defense. I think they are quite complimentary. Further, it isn't like our other back-up 1s play defense either (unless we play Head out of position there), and they are not near as effective offensively as Atkins. And again, the games we lose and the ruts we get in are rarely because our defense breaks down, it is because our offense can't get untrack. And Atkins on the bench would be a heck of an option to try to get the offense on track, and I don't see that big of risk of whatever back-up 1 he is playing starts going off.
i never said i wanted him i just said the only guard i find good enough i am not sure of james' salary but i do believe his MLE does start around the 4 million range unless his trade kicker puts him over the top of our 4.2 +100k i could be wrong i dont look at the salaries of other players that are not on the rockets. and once again who would you cut to let chucky play? the only real "dead weight" on this team is sura or padgett and van gundy does use padgett in parts (though rare) of rotations and I still think there was a reason why padge was brought back. Sura would be the only one and his contract is expiring which i am sure the rockets are looking to shop at the deadline next week. all our young guys are under for 3 years so i wouldnt give up on them just yet thats for sure. so they wouldnt be traded imo. you will not get a better value than bonzi even with his contract. am i out of line? I admitted that i thought of hoopsworld not hoopshype and said sorry for it. desert scar i dont know whats going on at practices to comment who is doing better as a backup pg, from whats on the court jl3 and vspan are not ready, i think a combo of luther and tmac are good for the ~20 mins rafer rests. you say defense isnt a problem during that time, but defense is what wins this team ball games not offense. Defense and effort the two things I rarely see from chucky atkins when he plays and the two things JVG values above all (how else did ryan bowen get any minutes?) if chucky does get traded for the TE from what i have seen on the court with the team and the values and trends of JVG it would be a move by morey/CD and not one by JVG
Bad teams only make it more difficult if they are bad offensive teams. Memphis, even without Pau, did a good job scoring effeciently with a small lineup. Their defense....[walton]horrrendddous[/walton]
