During his year with the Bobcats he was called out for having a poor attitude and being lazy.

I like how a thread about trading for Chucky Atkins is a 5 star thread. As if this hasn't been discussed ad nauseum for months.

Can someone tell me the day that the TE expires? I have heard today (the 13th) I have heard the 15th, I have heard the 22 with the trade deadline.

Can anyone confirm the correct expiration date for me please?

Out of curiosity, is Badiane so bad that the Rox would not even consider a couple of 10-day contracts for the guy, during this brief period that we're still waiting for Yao to come back? It seems that that course would make more financial sense, and it would still leave all our other options open. He can't play much serious ball, but last we saw of him, he hustled for loose balls, rebounded, and gave a lot of effort defensively. Could give Deke 5-8 minutes of rest per game while we wait for Yao. I know they would have to release someone, probably Padgett, in order to add a body without subtracting one, so maybe that's an insurmountable problem there.

I am not one of these 'Badman Lovers' or anything, it is just more curiosity about why, when we are in a situation which would seem to be one where we would have at least heard the guy's name mentioned, there's been anry a peep.

That's what i've learn also, but if JVG bringing Sampson like another Chuck Hayes with less offense, i really think that JVG want Sampson to be a defensive stopper for someone like Nowitski or Stoudimire (Suns). Sampson will be a long project that this team never wanted because we can run for championship now!

Pick up the phone CD and talk to Jerry West like you did in the past and let's bring Chuky Atkins! PLEASE...... :( .

    1) We would have to let someone go it wont be sura his contract is too valuable at the trade deadline as a tool. the only choice would be padgett and he still adds value since he is a big guy who can shoot and he knows the system i wouldnt want to cut him because he is the only big guy after deke and howard that has playoff experience off the bench. I would not cut a mediocre big to get a mediocre small

    2) deke has been playing out of his mind lately, what if he cant do this anymore at this pace? i expected him to play at a high level (not this high) for the first month of yao's injury but the minutes are starting to add up and without deke in there our interior defense is nonexistant same with some of our reboundin.

    3) i never said steven hunter i am not sure who is available what i do know there are guards on this team, point guards that can somewhat adequately do the job or by comittee (luther,tmac,jl3) when rafer rests. I think our backcourt depth is good enough to play tmac at the point with either snyder, bonzi or luther at the 2 and battier at the 3 for the ~20 mins a game rafer doesnt play. its the frontcourt depth that worries me considering that jvg only plays 3 guys when yao is out and one of them is quite undersized and two contribute very little offensively

Badiane is trash, thats why he isn't being considered for the Rockets. They could pick up a guy from the NBDL that could gives us more than Badman.

Chucky Atkins has a better assist to TO ratio (3.01) than any Rocket, including Rafer (2.44). So maybe some TOs are strange, some are stupid, but overall they are less frequent that for any Rocket.

CA isn't the defender RA, I agree. But the ruts the Rockets get in are do to an inability to penetrate and hit open Js, not play defense. Our defense is the best in the league. Our offense is far from it. A guy off the bench to jumpstart are sometimes slacking and slumping offense is exactly what we need. He is an excellent FT shooter and has playoff experience as well--critical to helping us close games versus a desperate trapping anf fouling team.

    FYI:

The Charlotte Bobcats were finalizing a trade Tuesday morning, and there were initial indications it would involve power forward Melvin Ely going to the San Antonio Spurs.

Ely is playing on a one-year 3.3 million contract and has requested a trade that would allow him more playing time, sources said. The Bobcats tied him to that 1-year qualifying offer last summer in hopes of dealing him.

The team has an abundance of other options at the position, including lottery pick Emeka Okafor and Sean May.

It was not initially available what the Spurs would be giving up for Ely.

Remember, Badianne was not invited to training camp because of an NBA rule. The rule says (I think) if an NBA team invites an unsigned (foreign?)second round pick to camp and does not sign him, the team loses its rights to the player.

Right now, the Rockets have the exclusive rights to a raw, athletic big man who MIGHT develop into a decent NBA contributor. Why would the team lose those exclusive rights to sign the still-raw player to a 10-day contract?

Better to keep waiting on Badianne and see how he continues to develop.

he may have a better assist to to but in limited minutes where if he doesnt jack up a 3 just passes the ball to miller on the curl and shoot. the way barone has memphis playing all the offensive stats get inflated a bit, much like how the case is in phoenix. not trying to say chucky is a bad ball handler but his decision making is very poor worse than rafer and that isnt necessarily mean turning the ball over but taking contested shots when another player is wide open and has an available passing lane.

and part of the reason our team defense is so good i would have to attribute to rafer playing his part, as everyone says van gundy's system isnt easy to learn rafer has been here now close to two seasons and knows it. i dont think chucky will be able to pick it up especially how poor he plays defense to begin with. chucky brings things to the table but i think his cons outweight the pros.

unfortunately the guy who i would say would be good off the bench for the TE (yeh i am gonna get heat for this) would be mike james. maybe minnesota bites now that he is a redudant player with their core of guards

they are just a link dump site...duh.

The article is from the Charlotte Observer, which is a newspaper. Why dont you take a deep breath before you go on your meaningless rampage. Call it BS all you want. I read the article and tried to share with fellow basketball fans on this site. Your negative attitude is not very classy. Thanks for setting me (a red rowdy that attends every single basketball game in Houston) straight, I bow to your superior knowledge, Mr guru of any sport involving balls for some reason.

i saw our salary for next year. We'll hv a MLE and a LLE durin offsesason. Tracy is making 19MiL and Yao is making 13mil. We'll need to resign Chuck Hayes, and Sura'll probably retire or traded before next season. The team next year will be - Mutombo and Bonzi. If we sign 2 or 3 players with MLE + LLE, that's about 7.6 Mil. Our payroll would be around 70mil. Do we need to pay tax ? or because we used MLE and LLE, we don't need to worry about it?
I think we've got a good core, with Luther staying at least for 08/09, Juwan would probably pick up his option on 08/09. Battier are signed through 2011 and Alston at 2010. We probably won't lose our starting four players and Kirk Synder, if they match his contract. Tracy'll make 21+ mil in just two years and I just hope he can give us some decent number through the last years of his contract. However, we'll have no ability to sign any player with a payroll around 70mil. Maybe we really need to dump Howard's contract during offseason since he's having a almost career year.

    hold down there kid

i never insulted you in any of my posts and yet here you are criticizing me.

all said in the first post was a link, which is a rule from Clutch on the board here, not me. then you just put hoopshype.com, another site along with hoopsworld that consistently tend to report rumor as fact. you made no mention of the charlotte observer at all until this point. the previous post had just hoopshype.com but no direct link which again is a rule of the board here. (if its hoopsworld that is banned and not hoopshype i am sorry both sites have reported in the past rumors as fact or "done deals" i think hoopsworld is the worse of the two though)

i never said i was the end all of knowledge, i am happy that you get to go to allt he games in houston, i live out here in los angeles otherwise i would have tried out to be a red rowdy as well. i do my best to go to every game the rockets play here in la but money is a problem since tickets here are much more expensive compared to other cities. I do have league pass so i can follow this team just the same way you do in houston.

i dont see how i had a negative attitude just because i do not want a particular player(s) on the rockets is not a negative attitude itjust adds to the debate, just like how countless posters here do not like JVG or Howard or rafer. They must all negative attitudes too right?

once again you were the one to make it personal first, mocking me as "nba hardcore fan" or something of the nature in the nba skills challenge thread when all i had said was i would like to see paul or deron williams play. especially if you were a rowdy (not saying you are not) but you would have known paul is not injured anymore and is playing. i am not going to get into this any further than it already has its pointless
