One of the dangers of working out hard with a respiratory infection is that you can develop pericarditis.. hopefully this will clear..
I find it interesting he had no symptoms. You don't typically have pericarditis without some underlying symptoms that get you to a doctor. Guess Hayes is just doesn't feel pain and has such a strong heart that it didn't slow him down during his off season workouts.
Ya hate to say that but pro sports puts immense pressure to your heart. It's not like he has an office job.
I feel for Chuck, firstly for his health and secondly for losing the pay cheque that he EARNED. When healthy the league has to push the kings to reinstate his voided contract or have some type of compensation come his way. By signing Chuck they took him off the market, taking away his ability to sign with another team, CALLING BIMA...Is there something that can be done to reinstate or compensate when Chuck gets a clean bill of health? Praying that the Lord touches your heart and heals your ailment.
Pericarditis in this case is treated with NSAIDs and rarely steroids if its refractory. It's painful but honestly is by far the best prognostic outcome he could have. DD this is different than what Juwan Howard hard, that was viral myocarditis a MUCH MUCH more serious condition that kills one third of people who get it. Pericarditis has a ton of different causes and most of the time does not turn into chronic pericarditis. Chuck will absolutely continue to play basketball and this will NOT affect his career if this is an isolated pericarditis.
True, but how long it will take him to fully recover nobody knows. I can speak from experience here guys because my wife suffers from Pericarditis too. She has had it for over 4 months now.
I had friend who died of this, suddenly, in the middle of the night. [edit] or maybe it was viral myocarditis, now that i read azoghbi's post.
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski Agent for Chuck Hayes issues statement saying doctors at the Cleveland Clinic examined Hayes and say, "..He does not have a heart problem." WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski Hayes met with doctors at clinic, and "their recommendation is that the can continue to play professional basketball without any concerns."
agreed id be somewhat optimistic if we landed chuck and sammy both on 1 year guaranteed deals.... Lowry Martin Bud/twill/Morris Scola/Chuck/patterson Sammy/chuck/hill too bad we didnt amnesty freaking thabust now
So if he can prove that he did not have a heart problem, shouldn't the Sactown contract be reinstated?
Chuck at the 4 and Dalembert at the 5? Kinda like 09 when Deke held it down so Chuck could play the 4. All we need is Von Wafer back. lol.
Happy for him, buuuut.... he might want to seek about 5 other opinions to make sure. How in the world does stuff like this happen?
SpearsNBAYahoo Marc J. Spears Agent Calvin Andrews tells Y! Sports Sac frontrunner to sign Chuck Hayes, but Hou, SA, Minny in mix too. Decision likely to come after Xmas.
how do we know this wasn't maneuvering to get out of his contract once they saw the player and maybe thought they paid too much? it's quite strange that one side voids a contract due to heart problems and then he is basically cleared not long after by other doctors.
