Talking about his defense, watching Clutch's highlights of the game against Boston, he did not give an inch to Garnett when he was guarding him one on one... he really is strong as a tree
I doubt he would get a max deal with a normal economy. Could anyone give a update on what happen from the last 12 minutes? I had to go to work at the beginning of the 4th and we were up by 10 then I see the score winning by only 2, what happened?
Chuck is the very definition of what it means by "defense." Watching him play defense and compare that with another player is night and day.
Chuck's play was great, which sealed the win for us. But don't diss Scola. Scola has done nothing but gave it all for us on the court.
Reminds me of another CHUCK CHUCKIE BROWN! One of my all time Fav Rockets Rocket River every rocket team needs a CHUCK!
I saw every single game. He never had that hitch in college. He did still release his jumpshot on the way down instead of at the peak, but after his first season he was primarily an inside player. He also played above the rim in college. But he hasn't been the same athletically since he bumped knees with Shaq. The free throw hitch I think has something to do with his shoulder injury. The one that he hurt again a few weeks ago but David Aldridge said he had been battling the same injury all season so I wouldn't be surprised if it's not an old injury altogether. <center><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/F4bp335HkPg&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/F4bp335HkPg&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object></center>
play of the game!! who knows what would've happened if denver had gotten that possession back.. they clearly would have had momentum
I got out of my chair. This guy used to get major minutes. They've been reduced significantly, and it would have been easy for him to let himself get out of shape and get upset at the way things have gone down -- but he hasn't. Adelman tells him to get in the closing minutes of a close game, and what does the guy do? He hustles and comes up with a huge play that won't show up anywhere, but we all know what happened. Love it. remember that play in the first Jazz series? I forget which game it was, but he came up with that huge charge at the end. He just gets it done
I really hope the Chuck Wagon retires as a Rocket. He is a perfect 10th or 11th guy to have on the bench. Strong as an ox, fantastic defense and gives 110% on every play. Plus, he can come in cold and shut down some of the best post players in the league...and is of course he can fill in nicely 15-20 minutes a game if an injury calls him to regular duty. If Tmac had Chuck's heart he would have been a hall of famer.
dag yo!!!!! that is one awesome play. He could've reinjured his shoulder again. I guess his heart for the game took over rather than listening to his brain and body about re-popping his shoulder again. crazy!!
2007 game 5 he rotated over and took a charge from fisher. he was soo pumped that he didnt even feel the ball falling down and hitting him in the head. you gotta love the chuck wagon
I met CHUCK today at Capitol One Bank off Westheimer and thanked him personally for face-planting and saving the game for us....he said it hurt his elbow more than anything!
The ruling was accidental whistle but I think the baseline ref. at first was calling it out on Chuck. I think he thought Chuck landed out of bound before he threw the ball in. It was actually a difficult view from the baseline because the ball was under Chuck and was thrown backward. The other 2 refs intervened and ruled Rocket's ball. For a moment I thought they were going to give the Nuggets another chance.
I think it has to do with the body weight. If you'd notice when he first got here Chuck Hayes was pretty quick, slipping inside the defense who were focusing on Yao for the quick layup c/o Tmac. He was basically our Landry before Landry got here (i.e. super efficient low volume scorer). Then I think he got bulkier and that slowed him down. Then he got injured and that slowed him down even more. The hitch might have resulted from a habit formed by the shoulder injury, and the abysmal ft% might have been the result of destroyed confidence because of all that hitch as well.
