Nobody was a dedicated leader like Charles Barkley. First in the clubhouse, first to the club.

Dwight and Howard are the worst players in the world.

Too many fake fans here lately.

I am not worried, Les will set the ship straight again. We are not the 76ers.

    very true.

we built our team around two all star players; neither of which is a true "leader". Harden is a top 5 player in this league in my opinion, but he's definitely not a leader. Dwight is a declining top-level player; a big knock on him has always been that he's not much of a leader. Morey can build a team on paper, but what we are seeing now is about the other key elements of NBA success that there are no analytic line items for:

leadership, passion, effort, accountability, chemistry, preparation, etc...

For once I agree with Chuck.

James lacks in the leadership department.

This goes back to my thoughts on the problem with the team being James Harden. He doesn't seem committed to basketball to me. He does not play off the ball, does not run any cuts or screens, doesn't try and come off of picks.

When he doesn't have the ball in his hands he doesn't really contribute much offensively. His efforts on both ends of the floor leaves a lot to be desired...and if your leader is not giving 100% then the rest of the team will certainly not...

    Yep.

Harden just does not bring intensity and focus. At times he does, but far too often he just appears aloof.

Last night, in particular, was the perfect illustration of how our fortunes weigh heavily on Hardens whims. When he's on, and focused we looked good. When he's off and not getting calls he looks absolutely horrible. Going back to game 5 against the Warriors, he literally becomes a liability when he is in this mode. The Nets did everything possible last night to hand us the game, and they couldn't capitalize despite getting a gem of a game from Thornton. It's up to Harden and Dwight to maintain some sort of consistency even when things aren't going their way.

    Barkley spoke the truth.

Don't recall people saying Dirk wasn't a leader. I recall his being called soft in-the-paint. And his poor defense wasn't from lack of effort.. it was more physical limitation.

Thing is, Kenny and Shaq agreed too. '94 Rockets weren't All-World outside of Hakeem.

He doesn't like to openly admit defeat, hence saying "this is Chuck's opinion".
It's like a kid saying "I'm asking for a friend".
