Where does the hatred for Pagano come from? He's been a head coach for 4 years. The first, he missed most of the season. The next two, his team went 11-5 and advanced further in the playoffs each year (obviously missed a huge chunk of one of those). This year was an injury plagued mess. And they've done it without much talent around Luck and Hilton. I can see having major problems with the GM, but Pagano seems to be doing pretty well with what he has to work with.
It's pretty good new for the Texans. Grigson is an absolute ****ing moron and has had drafts/trades even Rick Smith couldn't accomplish if his eyes were closed. That team is riding high off the fumes of the Peyton era, not realizing they're slowly becoming a joke. I don't care if you have Luck for the rest of his career, They won't amount to anything with how they're running things now. If I was Polian, I'd cut all ties to the franchise. Comparing Grigson to Polian is ridiculous in any facet. All the Texans need to do is get consistent QB play and they'd own the AFC South for a decade straight.
Luck must have threatened to leave...or Pagano and their GM must have pictures of blackmail against Irsay...b/c I have zero clue how in the heck these two retained their jobs. Personally speaking I am very happy as a Texans fan. Pagano has had so many gimmicky plays work out for him, but his best offensive threat wont evolve b/c their owner is an idiot. In a highly anticipated coaching market, heck they couldve been in the market for Sean Payton... or even Tom Coughlin. Pagano is probably a nice dude as a person, but he is a terrible coach. case and point...
I wonder if the Colts will give the Texans their first round pick for Arian Foster.....even off an Achilles tear he's better than Trent Richardson.
Maybe, but he gets results. It's hard to make the argument that the GM has done a terrible job assembling the roster and Pagano has done a terrible job coaching while they went 11-5 for 3 straight years and kept advancing further in the playoffs. *Someone* has to be doing a good job there.
His name is Andrew Luck, who has some ridiculous number of comeback wins for his young age. And that 1st year is mostly Bruce Arians. I'm really curious to see how the NFL plays out during this new CBA. It's the first time in history that teams are actually equal under the cap.
Andrew Luck is great - but he's not going to carry his team to 11-5 every year any more than Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees would with a bad coach and GM. Arians certainly gets credit for Year 1 - but there were 2 more years of that too.
Gary Kubiak was a good coach, Gary Kubiak got results. He also did some mind-bogglingly stupid **** at times. Then his QB got hurt and it made him look that much worse. That seems to be the frustration in Indy with Pagano. That and their declining defense.

They seem to think that the division will remain down. Yes, the Titans will likely continue to suck for some time. I believe we (the Texans) are close to building a long term contender. Really just a qb away from 9-7 to 12-4 or better every year (I know, easier said than done). I think the Jags are a team on the rise. But if the Colts think they can keep doing what they've been doing and just have the division handed to them, they're nucking futs...which is perfectly fine with me.
There is something to say about consistency in leadership... even if you're not 100% sold on who you have. Too many teams are making regime changes every 2-3 year, and it really hasn't proven to be effective either. Unless the Colts had a definite successor in mind, they could do a whole lot worse than retaining guys and trying to keep stability.
Sure - but Kubiak got results in 2 of his 7 years, and he did so with a foster loaded with elite talent (Foster, Watts, AJ, Mario, Cushing, etc). He had 1 out of 7 years with 11+ wins. Besides Luck and Hilton, what elite talent is there on the Colts roster? Or, looking even at this trainwreck year, they still navigated their way to 8-8 without the uber-QB that is supposedly responsible for all their success. Kubiak went 2-14 when his QB flopped. It's easy to make the case that either Pagano sucks or the GM sucks - but I still maintain it's hard to blame *both* of them. If they have a good roster, the GM doesn't suck. If they don't, then the coach has done a good job.

I was just saying that, like Kubiak and many other coaches, he has a reputation with their fans as being kind of an in-game dumbass.
