TMac is a good 2 to 3 inches taller than Hayes.

My goodness, how many players in this league can guard KG? LOL. Hayes played great defense tonight, even though he did miss a couple assignments because he's a rookie. He showed on the picks great and rotated quickly back to his man, quicker than Juwan. He's got great potential to be a contributor in this league, especially in this era of rule changes that favor the smaller, dribble penetrator types. Hayes stepped up with post defense on the drivers better than anybody we've had on this team this year. He's got the quickness to step up to the shot and either take the charge or get the block on all those twisting whirly dirvy shots those little guys put up. Everybody else on our team is either too big and slow, or they're the other little guy getting beat off the dribble.

You're probably right. It's nice to know that when the other team goes small ball on us, we'll have the rebounding edge. Phoenix comes to mind right off the bat.

Serious numbers, even if it's the depleted Bulls.

The biggest possible benefit...we will see if it lights a fire under someone else's arse. :)

Wow! I was very impressed by Chuck Hayes' play. Sure it is only one game against a small-ball lineup, but still! The fact he played 32 mintues, the fact he played ALL the crunchtime minutes is amazing. 12pts, 13rbs and 2 blocks? Isnt that the kind of numbers we would be DROOLING about if Stromile put those up every night?

Hayes' might only be 6'6" but the guy plays big. He works really hard and has a nose for the ball. AND he isnt afraid of contact which I think sometimes is the problem with Stromile. Hayes is just a bull.

The rebounding didnt surprise me TOO much but offensively I was really pleasantly surprised. He looks VERY calm out there. He didnt look out of control or uncordinated. He made some very nice moves (and made his FTs!). And defensively the guy did a really good job of moving his feet to stay in front of his guy. That play where he blocked Hinrich's shot and then called timeout.....he looked like a seasoned veteran on that play!

We didnt get a chance to see it tonight, but if Haynes has a 15 jumper that would really be huge.

I say sign Hayes for the rest of the season and get him in the main rotation. Energy, Energy, Energy! get him on the court!

Seeing the way Hayes played last night, rebounding the basketball, playing good defense, getting 2nd shot opportunities for the team, makes you wonder if perhaps the Rockets should have looked harder in the offseason at a free agent like Reggie Evans. Those extra shots/possessions are just huge!

Thank you, and I am at a loss to understand how YOU Fewgu connected any of my posts on this thread to anything regarding JVG. I made no reference to JVG, I wasn't even thinking about JVG. I was just excited about Hayes. I didn't even remember that he was cut; I didn't even remember him being here. Surely he didn't ever play much, if at all. "Intellectual lazziness!" Who are you, George Will!? Come on, it is a sports board at midnight!

And You Computerman, or whoever you are, how about pulling Webster's FIRST MEANING off the top of my head! How is that getting "owned by Webster?" Some of you posters just live to "put down" other posters regardless of content, intent, or subject. I think that is so immature.

damn, now I'm a bit upset I missed last night's game. I was watching the Rose Bowl on ESPN classic. :p

I just want to say that I stayed til the bitter end of the Mavs game here on Wednesday and I got to see CH play. I thought he was awesome then. I'm not sure if it's because he is playing for the roster or contract, but I liked what I saw. He hustled, got rebounds and seemed like a smart player with lots of energy even though we were down by 100 points.

I love watching guys succeed and do well. Even better if our team plays well. Good luck to the new Rockets!!

While I was duly impressed with Chuck and hope he can contribute to this team; how many NBA regular season games has he played in?

Two. Let's not get carried away and have that "Cato pre-season 7 blocked shot" kind of knee-jerk reaction.

That having been said, he looks like a hard working lunch-pail type of player that is going to give it his all every minute on the court. Has a knack for being in the right spot for boards and looked quick off of his feet when going up.

    Nice win.

Dude, you're acting like this is a medical or scientific term. It's common enough English. Sorry if we're not dumbing down terms for you.

And I believe Fewgu was quoting ndnguy85. So why the hell are you jumping on him for quoting you? Sheesh.

You got owned because you quoted the FIRST MEANING... but then acted like it was the ONLY MEANING. That's how you got OWNED!

People, don't get too excited about Chuck Hayes yet. It was ONE game. We don't even know if he's a keeper yet. He should get some playing time with Stro out a couple more games. Don't let one game start a bandwagon. I hope he succeeds here but let's have a little realism.

Mind your own business or at least read his post; he addressed me directly.
I didn't "act like it was the only meaning," that was the only one that came to mind at the time. What is wrong with some of you people? This is sports board, for fun! Why nit-pick methodological minutia. I was asking for clarification, I sincerely didn't understand, nothing more. And don't write to me again, because you are tempting me to start name calling, something I don't typically do.

This thread has prompted me to research the "ignore list." Any information on how to make "annoying" posters disappear from my view of the BBS will be appreciated. Thank you. I am here to discuss the Rockets, not play mind games with other posters.

Go to User CP at the top of bbs homepage, then go to "Miscellaneous" on the left where you will find "Buddy/Ignore List".

I don't know, I really had trouble telling JH and Hayes apart at times on my tiny tv...one of them has to go.

Or I could just get a new tv. :)

It is only one game and the knock on the guy is he is only a 6'6" PF so lets see how he does after one go around in the WC against the teams that have size at the position. There is no question that the guy is more physical than SS though and watching Songlia yesterday, I wonder if he wouldn't have been a better choice than SS, the Bulls picked him up for less than the MLE.

Not to piss on this Hayes party, but has any seen Eddie Griffin's stats last night?

Eddie Griffin's two free throws put away Indiana, 90-85, Friday at the Target Center. Griffin had 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting to go with 14 rebounds and six blocks.

Bastid! Can not get together for us. I will remain forgrever

Every three weeks Eddie has one good game, that makes someone around here post a "look what we're missing" thread about Eddie. Of course the rest of the month he's stinking up the court and nobody around here says a peep.

Let it go people. Eddie sucks, and we're better off without him.
