Nice links, thanks. But Marcus Camby has 22.0%. Camby actually leads the league in that category. Camby played 10 more minutes than Chuck and 20 more games, which makes it more impressive for Camby.

I am not counting Jamal Sampson and Loren Woods since they did not play enough minutes and games.

Even for Chuck, I need to see more games and more minutes before I declare him the best rebounder in basketball.

Joe Foster of the Pacers have almost similar stats to Chuck with similar minutes and more games.

Nonetheless, Chuck has been very impressive for an undrafted rookie and gives the Rockets another dimension. Hopefull he becomes the rebounder that we are looking for.

After watchign Chuck Hayes for a while. I really think he's the top 10 rebounders in the NBA at least. He's a lot like Rodman, has great instinct of where the ball is when a shot goes up, and flat out knows how to play the game.

CHuck will have a really nice career here in Houston.

I'm pretty sure Chuck will be a restricted Free Agent this summer. That's how it usually works for guys with 3 years experience or less. We'll have the edge in signing him because I sincerely doubt he'll get that big of an offer anywhere else.

I would really like to see what Chuck's rebound average would be over say a period of 37 minutes. That's a more realistic time frame for a good player who gets alot of minutes. As someone mentioned earlier fatigue would be a factor. But anyway you slice it the kid is a great rebounder.

13.3 rebounds per 37 minutes, before today's game.

COMPAQ, thanks for the info. Still, I wasn't really arguing whether or not Chuck was the most impressive rebounder in the NBA, and didn't take the time to scan the better per-minute rebounders among the guys who haven't played enough minutes to qualify because it wasn't what we were discussing.

And rebounding rate is hardly the way to gauge "the best rebounder in basketball," as you said. It is something to be mixed in with scouting to determine the overall effectiveness of a player. I didn't come close to saying Chuck Hayes was "the best rebounder in basketball."

I did say that an undrafted rookie, coming up with a 21.1 rebound rate after his first ten games, is pretty impressive. Nothing more.

My guess is matchups. NY is a pretty tall team down low: Curry, J. James, Frye, Mo Taylor.

I've started annoying my wife with repeated exclamations of "ChuckHayes!"

However he would also lead the league in personal fouls too.

KellyDwyer, I was not refering to your post when I said "I would not declare him the best rebounder in basketball". I was just speaking in general. But someone here was comparing him to Dennis Rodman, others were indicated he is no. 1 in rebounding per 48 mins and no. 1 in rebounding rate. I was indicating that he is not no. 1 in those categories but he is near the top.

I know the excitment around him and I enjoy his game very much and I missed watching him against the Knicks yesterday. But still he is as a good a rebounder as Jeff Foster of the Pacers at the point. But what is amazing about him is that he is 6'6" and others are much taller than him.

    Peace !

actually my guess would be that jvg was saving him for todays game. we'll need more energy and hustle out there today since its a back to back game on the road. with swift's tendency to have 1 good game followed by 3 bad ones it could have been a good play. no need to tire out all the players.

but what the heck do i know
