So I guess the Rockets finally figured it out... let FANS come to the game and you get a home court advantage. Who was the genius that realized that?

It sounds like you guys did a great job setting the atmosphere. Most people need some noise to get them started and make them feel comfortable. The Rowdies can give them that.

The Rockets need to make sure no one ever tell the Rowdies what to do or try to teach you guys how to cheer at a basketball game. I think that the Rowdies are the local experts on cheering techniques. The Rockets provide the tickets, the Rowdies provide the energy. In fact, rather than tell you what to do, those tickets should come with a couple free beers to make sure no one ever shuts up.

They should definitely have a couple sections for real fans, so the noise spreads throughout the entire arena and more people feel comfortable getting excited about the game. It is terrible when you are having fun at a game, but you can't really do anything because you are sitting in a morgue-like section. Nothing worse than feeling like you are singing the national anthem at center court if you raise your voice.

BTW, I was watching on League Pass in Austin, and the Dallas commentators were being used. When Wells came out on the court and the crowd got loud, the commentators were shocked. They couldn't believe that Wells would get attention like that (I assume they were refering to his previous problems).

Question: When Rafer did the hop...two-long-strides...360...over-the-shoulder-pass to Hayes (who caught the ball and missed the layup) near the end of the game, did it get the crowd going? It looked amazing on TV, and I just wish he would break out a little more streetball when the opportunity presents itself. I feel like that is the same thing as a blocked shot or a breakaway dunk as far as getting the team and the crowd into the game. As long as he can get away with it, I think it is fine to use. We only get to see it about 2-3 times a year.

Yea, the usher lady told us before the game that it was a sellout and they expected 18k to show up. I just saw that 18,245 was the attendance shown in the nba.com boxscore... but were that many people there? I'm not sure if they just showed the paid attendance or actual attendance.

And yes, I think you are right, it was mainly the corporate seats that were empty. It'll take some Rockets winning excitement to fill those corporate bandwagon seats... But hey, I'm thankful that there was a lack of interest, that's how I picked up those corporate seats :)

Yes, the place went nuts... and the roof would have blown off if Chuckie would have finished the layup. I went crazy, I couldn't believe that Skip pulled out his signature move. What a game to be at!

you know us cheering bonzi is probably a REALLY good thing... it's important that we make him feel comfortable and welcomed here and show him our support... it could be the key to locking him up for a few more years this coming off season :D

Actually, I think it will end up working in our favor. If we spend the first 3-5 minutes standing and then sit down, we can have more impact and inspire others more when we stand up and cheer for a big play.

Think about it, what makes you want to stand up more, a bunch of people standing or a bunch of people who leap to their feet when there is a score, nice defensive play, or some such?

Then, when we get to the last 4-5 minutes of the game, we will stand up again, encouraging the people around us to do the same.

This is going to be a fun year.

No, they did NOT want us to shut up at all. They wanted us to continue yelling and screaming, but just stand up to cheer nice plays rather than standing the entire time. I don't necessarily agree with that 100 percent, but I can see (as I mentioned in the post above) how it could work to our advantage.

They told me to, and I paid for my tix. I decided they could throw me out if they wanted to, but I was going to keep standing. I'd love to see them try and toss the entire rowdy section. They buckled under all the complaints from the pissants sitting higher up in section 114 (I got endless grief from a numberr of them, but they can bite me).

"Mr Van Gundy, we need to let you know we had to remove the Rowdy fans"
"Crap, were they getting out of hand?"
"Well, they were standing and cheering. We asked them to stop, but they kept on standing and cheering"
    "Those BASTARDS!"

Was at the game, great job by the Red Rowdies to keep the energy up. The crowd was great for the most part, still wish fans would stay until the end of the game.

I was in 115, one section over from the RR's. You guys were GREAT, but I thought the whole crowd was great too. The place erupted with just about every basket. Especially every Yao basket.

We got there an hour early and stayed until the players left the court. None of that arriving late, leaving early crap for us. The empty seats you saw on TV were the corporate fatcats that decided not to use their tickets. The rest of the place was packed to the rafters. And it was LOUD.

Aside my girlfriend almost getting my ASS kicked for scolding the 300 pound man in front of us for not taking his hat off during the Star Spangled Banner, it was a pretty good night!

honestly, you see that alot at other arenas..even supposed great ones like UTAH and SAC

if the game is a blowout and the scrubs hit the floor in masse...people start leaving early to beat the traffic.

what some new fans dont realize....that is the way it used to sound at the Summit during the 93-95 years....loud and proud.

It was JVG that bought the tickets, so I believe it was him. Of course, it could be really CD. For some reason, I don't think JVG would do this.

Both. I had a red wig and I got interviewed. I had a crazy spikey red wig that flows backwards while the guy I was sitting next to had a red afro wig.
