I hope you're joking around about the whole two franchise QB idea. Unless the thinking is to turn Carr into an offensive lineman, at least that way he wouldn't be able to get sacked anymore. ;)

    How is this a no-brainer?

I'm sure JL3 was dominating the courts at the local YMCA Sunday Night league before we scooped him up after every other NBA team refused to take a flyer, but I just don't see this guy as an NBA-calibur player.

Not to rain on anybody's parade or sound like a pessimist, but honestly, where does all this praise stem from? So he's quick, what else can you say about him? He plays with a lot of energy, okay so does pretty much any other borderline player hoping to earn another 10-day contract. He's not a playmaker, he doesn't have the size. Basically, you can only be so optimistic before conceeding you're dealing with a poor man's version of Mike Wilks here.

For what it's worth, Moochie plays hard at least. Sure, I get nervous everytime he touches the ball and knowing he's getting paid $4M + is pretty nausiating but his contract will look attractive once February rolls around, so i'll deal with it.

I think we should make a 2 for 1 trade and send out Moochie and Stro for something, anything to upgrade our perimeter play. Then go with what we have on the interior with Yao coming back, Yao, Deke, Juwon, Chuckie, Lonnie.

How about Stro, Moochie, and our #1 pick to Sacramento for Bonzi and whatever? We need one more perimeter player that can get off their own shot and defend...........that's the same thing I've felt from the beginning of the season, before all the injuries.

When you look at our roster right now, and how everybody is playing, it looks to me like the players most likely to be traded would go like this:

1(a) Moochie-expiring contract, 3rd string PG on this team, not getting any minutes

1(b) Stro-cheap contract when compared to potential. Is not working out for us. Great athlete but seems to have poor knowledge and understanding of the game and is not the "instinctive" type rebounder that we need on the floor.

    2. DA-expiring contract and cheap throw in on some deal. Has been hurt and hasn't been able to show whether he will be a contributor or not.

    3. DWesley-expiring contract and a pro in every sense of the word. Can knock down the 3 ball and provide veteran mentorship. I'd hate to see him go. But he is a tradable asset.

    4. Lonnie Baxter-expiring contract is the only reason. I'd hate to see him go. He's a wide body banger, who is cheap and productive.

    5. Rafer?-our only real ball handler. Can't really see us getting rid of him at this stage of the season, unless we get a solid ball handler back.

    6. Juwon-he's been too valuable to us this season. I was ready to get rid of him early but he just knows how to play the game. I don't think we can spare him since Stro is giving us next to nothing.

    7. Head-he would be tradable but I don't think we will give him up. I think he is in the long term perimeter rotation for us. He may never be a star or even a starter but he would be a great sixth man at the very least, and could blossom into much more. Remember Cat's rookie year? And look how he turned out.

    8. Barry-nobody would want him. No value.

    9. Sura-no value, injured

    10. Hayes-we ain't getting rid of a guy that can rip 12 boards every 20 minutes and has become our best interior defense against penetration in a week.

    11. Bowen-worthless

    13. John Lucas-worthless in a trade, invaluable as our backup PG and cheap

    14. Deke-our backup center, invaluable

    15 and 16. don't even ask

I realistically think that only Moochie and Stro can be subtracted from us without loss. We need to upgrade our 2/3 spot for playoff matchups. Who can we get for a $4.2 mill expiring deal and a $5 million contract for an underachieving superathlete?

Well, he did okay against Detroit. Remember, no one is advocating that Hayes start. I don't see how he's going to take away any minutes from Howard. But he's a good man to have on our roster because he has exactly what Swift doesn't have: Brains. Hayes is never surprised by the ball; whether it's a bullet pass out of the blue or a wild carom off the backboard, Hayes is ALWAYS ready to grab the ball. Originally I didn't think he could defend, but for 6'6", the guy can actually get some work done down low. It'll be good to see him play a couple more games before Swift comes back (if he ever does) so we know for sure if this is an everyday player or not.

I tell you though, he looked pretty damn good in the fourth quarter tonight.

Chuck Hayes has done more dirty work downlow in the last 3 games than Swift has done the entire season.

Hayes has a knack for the ball and seems to at least get a hand on a rebound almost everytime. I'm still hoping for Swift to be a good player, but I'll take rebounding and toughness over a highlight dunk any day of the week.

I know what you mean. I'm not ready to give up on Swift just yet. However, Hayes looks to be one of those real undiscovered talents. I hope he keeps it up and helps this team.

Agreed, we also need to save Moochie for the trade deadline this year, that was the entire purpose of getting him from the Knicks in the first place...

You guys are too high on him, he is too slow to play SF, too small to play PF, best case he is a decent backup PF.

Yall can't be serious, hayes is a hard working player but after just 2 or 3 good games does not make him better than stromile.

I dont know if Hayes is better than Stromile. What I do know is Hayes is more "physical" than Stromile. He is more willing to get in the paint and bang around and thus ends up getting more boards. And on a team that seems to lack that "pitbull" mentality and seems a lot soft....that kind of toughness is VERY much needed.

I think what you see from Hayes is a lot like Reggie Evans. Just an undersized tough worker.

Watching last night's game....it made me remember how this team was when Bob Sura last played on it and showed that kind of toughness. We are missing it!

I agree. Chuck has played better in this 4 game stretch than any 4 games stretch for Stro.

Yeah, I'll concede he's better than Bowen. But not Swift.

I think Swift could eat into Mutombo's minutes. I like Mutombo, but Swift would be better on defensive rotations at the 5. Plus with the injury history of the Rockets and the defensive matchup problems that Hayes could run into. I would like to see Swift stay on the team for depth.

We just need to perform a brain transplant to put Chuck's brain in Sto's body.
