They played this perfectly, alerting Hayes to problem (he does have enlarged heart) & advising him to have more tests done b4 reconvening.

Darn it, wish we could bring back Chuck. Maybe Morey will surprise us but somehow I don't think Chuck is coming back. I guess he really has a new home.

If all this news is true, and Petrie even drove Hayes to clinics for more tests, the Kings should be commended for how they handled the situation. If all goes well, at the end they will have gained a grateful and super motivated chuckwagon at a very cheap price for someone who can handle minutes at the 5. I think Hayes will help Cousins too.

Awesome for Chuck. I hope it never comes back. I cant wait to see him on the court, no matter what uniform he is in.

Your my man Chuck (no homo). God Bless.

According to Andrews, a team of doctors from the clinic determined that Hayes does not have a heart problem and they recommended that he can continue to play basketball without any concerns.

“They saw the pictures,” Hayes said. “They wanted to do the same tests, the same MRIs, CAT scans, X-rays, EKGs and they came to the conclusion that my heart’s normal. It just grows differently than everybody else’s.”

The team announced Thursday night it had reached an agreement with Hayes. He is expected back in Sacramento tonight. The deal is worth $22.4 million over four years. That is $1 million more than Hayes signed for Dec. 9, the first day free agents were allowed to sign with teams following the 149-day NBA lockout. "It's been an incredible week of emotional highs and lows," Hayes said in a statement. "The Kings have been very supportive during this process and I feel very comfortable with the relationships that I have started there. After reviewing my options, the Kings were still the choice for me."

Chuck was not the Rockets' first choice. They had a chance to re-sign Hayes and gave Dalembert $7m instead. Chuck is a secondary concern to the Rockets after Gasol, Nene, the other Gasol, 2012 cap space, and Dalembert. Sure, Morey would have been happy to have Chuck back -- as long as he wasn't an inconvenience to other roster moves.

Of course, but my point was comparing Chuck and Dalembert, not those other guys.

I have no doubt Kings fans will appreciate him as much as we did. Congrats to the Chuck Wagon!

Yeah, and I told you Dalembert was a higher priority than Chuck. Chuck's contract had already been voided when we signed Dalembert. If we would have rather had Chuck, why would we sign Dalembert to a contract that makes it impossible to bring Chuck back?

(The reason being that 2012 free agency was more important than Chuck, so we wouldn't be able to offer a contract as long as Sacto's and Dalembert was more amenable to a shorter contract. In retrospect, it looks like the only scenario in which we were genuinely interested in bring Chuck back was if we got our big score this offseason with Gasol -- unless of course we had to renounce him to sign Nene. That's why I mentioned all that other stuff).

Hmmm.....that is a paradox.....nevertheless the Rockets are your team Chuck....not the Kings!

    Actually
    Gasol
Nene were obviously priority No. 1
    Then Sam
    Chuck

Glad everything turned out OK for Hayes. He doesn't deserve having his contract voided after playing so hard for the Rockets. Glad he got his much deserved payday - got an extra $1 million too.

Because there was little reason to believe Chuck could return to play here since he had a heart condition. If it was a false alarm, he'd return to the Kings (which is what happened).
