He has a killer spin in the post, but that must take a lot outta him because he either turns it over or shorts the hook shot. I wish he'd get to the line every game.

This thread is an epic fail. No one agrees with the OP. HAHA.

First of all, Yao kills Chuck offensively.
    Second, Chuck kills Yao defensively.

Yao is a good team defender, but one on one? Chuck is better. Not to mention that he is a much better natural rebounder with great instincts. But he can't score like Yao.

C'mon guys, we all know Chuck is a great low post defender, but c'mon. This thread should have been aborted in the mind of the OP.

the thing about Chuck is: his body is more balanced than Yao.

if he is 7 footer, I bet he is more like Howard, maybe not quick, but more mobile than Yao.

Yao has never ever ever played as well defensively as Chuck has. Please do not insult Chuck like this.

    Yao's defense = Chuck's offense

Chuck's my favorite player on the team, and I've been critical of some of Yao's defensive weaknesses, but this is just nutty.

How so? It is what it is.

Yao is a tremendous offensive player

Chuck is a tremendous defensive player

Chuck is the new Yao in that we cannot afford for him to be in foul trouble. We need him on the floor for at least 25-30 minutes to set the defensive tone.

Not to take anything away from chuck, but it kinda tells u how weak post play is now days. Kevin Willis would jump hook hayes to death.

Yao can be a really impactful defensive player. Now, Chuck does do a few things here and there to help the team on offense, but he doesn't help an offense nearly as much as Yao can help the defense.

I think Pau Gasol is a much more effective and skilled post player than Kevin Willis was. I missed Willis in the early (mid 80s) part of his career, though.

agreed, but Gasol is not as strong as Willis was. so Chuck pushes him out of his position and Gasol can't back him down as easily. Willis was damn strong and he would be able to back chuck down and put up his hook

    Uh, no.

    Hayes overall D >>> Yao's overall D
    Hayes overall M-2-M D >>>> Yao's M-2-M D
Yao's intimidation of shots inside the paint >>>>> Hayes

Catch your eyes, that's right, Hayes is Hayes, Yao is Yao, both them has the advantage but also the flaw

You would think Hayes would work on his short jumpers. Everytime I see Bynum leave him, and go double up Brooks/Lowry at the top of the key, I wanna scream "PASS IT TO CHUCK SO HE CAN DRAIN THAT BAD BOY!"

Then I remember Chuck can't shoot. So I control myself.

Willis was strong in the upper body, but I don't remember him having a really wide base. I don't think he'd be able to budge Chuck Hayes an inch.

Hayes is one of the few best defenders in the League. He deserves more minutes. He has proved that time and time. He can play some Yao's minutes for sure. Can't understand why coach sit him out most of the time.
