Ideally, I would want to have all three of our "intangibles" guys after the next season too. Obviously all of them are in danger of being used as a expiring filler if we can get a major talent upgrade, but if you could have Battier, Hayes and Jeffries to be your 9-12 guys on the rotation and for say less than combined 10 millions of salary, that would be just great. Add (hopefully) healthy Yao, improved Brooks, Martin and Hill, resigned Scola, few draft picks and I'm not so sure we aren't contenders even if we fail to get another all-star talent.
I've said it several times before. Hayes is the only guy in the league who could legitimately defend Steve Nash one play and Shaq the next. At the very least, I hope other teams know he's a huge asset and he'll always have a place in the league. Obviously I'd love to see him stay.
erm... verb usage does not agree Clutch. obscene: 1. Offensive to accepted standards of decency or modesty. 2. Inciting lustful feelings; lewd. 3. Repulsive; disgusting: "The way he writes about the disease that killed her is simply obscene" (Michael Korda). 4. So large in amount as to be objectionable or outrageous: "local merchants in nearby stores get hammered by stratospheric rents and obscene taxes" (Joe Queenan).
I'm pretty sure number 4 fits pretty well, actually. Also, number 2, because Chuck incites lustful feelings in me.
It truly is a rare mix of physical attributes. He has the lower body of a linebacker, the footspeed of a shooting guard and the mentality to put it all together. I can almost guarantee Chuck will be on the sidelines as an assitant coach one day, hopefully for the Rockets.
