Yes, cuz all athletes' children are born in the offseason when the sport is not being played ......
(but out of frustration I thought the same thing  )

Its bad enough wives and girlfriends don't like guys watching sports. Now they gotta go and do this kind of stuff.

In 20 or so years, we could have Chuck Hayes Jr. and Yao Jr. playing side-by-side.

    Hey, its worth a thought.

...A very frustration-filled thought, since without Chuckie, our defense against Boozer and our defensive rebounding fails.

Assuming everything goes right, I'm thinking Hayes would miss maximum one game. Even if we lose tonight... meh. We'll win Game 2. We're also a great road team. We're not intimidated by anyone or anything. T-Mac is arguably better on the road. After seeing him in the Stephen A. Smith interview, it's clear that he's on a mission. I'm not worried at all.

Man, 9 months ago, when that baby was being conceived, couldn't Chuck have taken a quick glance at the calendar, and said "Sorry baby, not tonight.....I got playoffs to think about"

Well, so just name the kid "Playoff", "Playoff Hayes" sounds a good name.

It's a little frustrating to me too...but some of the replies on here, you've got to be kidding me. I hope some of you don't have kids...ever.

Relax. Worse case scenario is that Chuck is not available for tonight's game. It's not like we lost Tracy or Yao (or even Battier). We are still very competitive without Chuck. IMO, we have decent lineup against Utah without Chuck.

Besides, Chuck may not be in the best mental state right now if he is worrying about his newborn child. It makes sense to let him spend time with his girlfriend at the hospital so that he is mentally prepared for the remaining games in the series. The worst thing to do is to force him to play and regret forcing him to play later because you are telling him that his job is more important than his son.

i hope juwan steps it up. he needs to have the mindset to grab every single rebound like his life depended on it. c'mon juwan, do it!

At least the game is in Houston. Otherwise he'd be out for sure.

Yeah, frustration is colouring our replies a bit (including mine), given the situation. But still...grats to the Chuck Wagon. He's gone strong for us for a season, so I think he deserves a bit of slack.

This is BS. He needs to show up for this game.

The kid won't know or remember anything. Tmac, Yao, Battier and crew WILL remember if we lose this game and go on to lose the series.

spinning it in a positive way, it is utah, ie they've a good frontcourt so hayes would be in foul trouble anyway. with juwan starting it would be business as usual even if hayes was available. also at least now they won't go in thinking they've got it made with hca, the team will step it up a notch.

Yao will play Boozer. Juwan is a better matchup against Okur than Hayes, he's longer and will bother MOs shot more than Hayes. We will miss Chucks rebounding.

I remember that "Chuck Hayes at the barber shop" thread. I guess his girl did draw that charging foul by Chuck after all. Congrats to Chuck and his better half.
