I am freakin tired of hearing about trades, shoulda traded x for y. Hayes is alot better for us than James would be. Once Yao comes back Rafer will fulfil his role much better and will only take shots where he has a good look. Rafer can pass and thats what we will need. Chuck Hayes is a hustler, that guy deserves his spot on the team, he dives for loose balls, get jump balls, and is a good defender in the paint.

The best deal sometimes is the deal that isn't done, as is the case here.

Agent: Mike, listen, it's not a 100% yet, but you might be traded soon.
MJ: Really? where am I going?
    Agent: Houston, actually
MJ: That's great, I love it there, who are they trading for me, btw?
Agent: Uh, Chuck Hayes and Bob Sura
MJ: Who? and I thought bob was retired?
Agent: Uh, injured actually, and Chuck is one of their backup powerforwards, he uh, plays behind juwon howard. He was undrafted.
MJ: okay, well, that's not a lot they are giving up, but I guess management wants to trade me off and I'm going to a better place so I shouldn't complain. I'm going to be a superstar again!
Agent: Yep, its pretty sweet...hold on, my phone is ringing, 'Hello'...yeah, yeah...ok, I'll let him know.
MJ: I'm going to Houston, baby!
Agent: actually, you aren't, Houston backed off, they felt they were giving up too much.
    MJ: WHAT?

"Next time, give us Kavin Garnet for Chuck Hayes, then we might consider." Rox fans say. LOL :D

I can't believe this is true. Hayes hustles, James hustles to keep the ball to himself. This trade would even be rejected by NBA 2k7!

I think Hayes is our X-factor to winning a championship this year. If he can hustle, play good D, and dominate the boards in the playoffs there is no doubt in my mind that we will easily beat any team including Dallas or Phoenix.

Mike James on the other hand would take away minutes from Alston and Head at PG, which would absolutely kill our team chemistry. Plus Mike James is a cancer and a ballhog and would take away Yao and Tmacs glory. Say NO to Mike James and YES to Chuckie Hayes!

Yet another proof of how badly the Rox want Mike James back.

I have a feeling they won't stop trying...

They didn't want him so bad that they would trade Chuck Hayes.

On one hand... maybe they don't really like James that much. On the other hand... the Rockets recognize Hayes's value and apparently so do the Wolves.

With all the defensive/rebounding/caring in general problems lately, I think the Rockets were wise to keep Chuck, especially for when Yao comes back. Plus, can you imagine how eager people would have been to dump James in the last couple years of his contract?

If he doesn't make Yao fall down again.

Seriously, if the trade only involved Sura and Hayes. MJ & Kleiza replacing Hayes & Lucas. This team would've gotten a supercharge heading into the playoffs.

I don't believe it though. No way would a division rival gift the Rockets this.

It wouldn't make a great deal of sense for Minny. They have their Hayes in Craig Smith (short hustle PF who can give you 20 solid minutes). But if the deal was James for Sura + Hayes (no pick), I'd do it. After all it is scoring slumps more than anything that kill the Rockets, and James is an efficient scoring point guard. I would have sure tried to pass on Snyder or Novak (someone with some potential but out of the rotation) instead of Hayes, and Minny more needs another SF anyway.

Who knows what the eventual deal breaker was (#1 pick demanded of us, Howard, and/or Hayes, etc), but for all those Mike James haters out there it was clear the Rockets organization had a major interest in acquiring Mike James, again. I don't think we lose to Atl or Boston had he been here either.

Judging by 90% of the responses in this thread it's no surprise it has only a one star rating.
