Well said Shroopy. You've put it in the most unbiased way possible. Honestly, I don't even think Hill is all that but we ain't got anyone else better. And well..you said the rest.

What do these stats tell you? Its showing me Jordan Hill is at least comparable in Rebounding and superior in shot blocking. If stats lead you to believe Jordan Hill sucks well guess what, then Chuck Hayes sucks too, they are comparable players. Even their play statistics winning percantage are comparable.

And this wouldnt be the 1st time someone questioned Adelman about which Big Man he chose to go W/ at a certain time. In the playoffs when we needed a key rebound, only to have Tracy tip away the rebound from the much shorter teamate Chuck Hayes. Which led to Tracy questioning why Adelman did not have Deke in there. While the public questioning was not smart, the point was valid.

Chuck Hayes is a 6'6 center. Him being at center is not because of skills like Barkley had big man skills. Its because of lack of skills. What keeps him in the NBA is he has smarts and toughness but that only works because today's NBA lacks talent among the big men.

And to the guy who said Chuck beats Hill at every position. Not even close. If they were to play one on one Chuck wouldnt have a chance. If you were to stick either one at the two spot, well they both would be terrible. But at least Hill has a jumpshot. Chuck would make the better PG because he's a better passer(underated) and well he is much closer to PG size than Hill is.

    DRB%
Defensive Rebound Percentage (available since the 1970-71 season in the NBA); the formula is 100 * (DRB * (Tm MP / 5)) / (MP * (Tm DRB + Opp ORB)). Defensive rebound percentage is an estimate of the percentage of available defensive rebounds a player grabbed while he was on the floor.

A few notes on what this means:

They don't break out what actually happens for a particular player's minutes. They figure out for THE TEAM how many rebounds were grabbed when the team was on defense (adding the team's defensive rebounds plus the other team's offensive rebounds) for all all minutes in all games (or at least, all minutes in all games this player plays; I'm not sure), and factors in how many defensive rebounds per minute the player in question gets. If, every time Jordan Hill were in the game, the other team put in five 9-year-olds, and we surrounded JH with four nine-year-olds, he might get 80% of the available rebounds, and he would have a pretty high DRB%. Alternatively, if there were no shots taken at all during his minutes, he would end up with a DRB% of zero, because he would never get any defensive rebounds. When comparing JH's DRB% to Chuck's, you have to be able to assume that JH gets the same opportunities, roughly, in his minutes, that Chuck gets in his.

So we have now won two games, guess what? Both games we won, Jordan hill was in the rotation and Chuck was limited in minutes, what do the losses all have in common? More Chuck than hill, nuff said.

That's interesting, I guess, except 20 of Jordan's 24 minutes against Minnesota came in the second half. We were already up 20 points when he entered the game.

Yesterday Hayes was ineffective in his short stint, and he didn't play in the second half. Same thing Adelman did with Hill in the prior game, and I have no complaints either way.

Hill had some nice moments in the third quarter (even though overall we lost our 10 point lead during that stretch). The big runs the Rockets made occurred with Miller on the floor instead of Hill/Hayes, however.

Chuck's a bad offensive player, but I'm not so sure about this. He's has a better handle then Hill, and he can go left or right. Hill will block a lot of his shots, but Chuck might surprise him now and then.

Hill is a one-trick pony in the post (righty jump hook), and doesn't have much back-down strength. 1-on-1, I think Chuck would lock him up.

Do any folks want to revise your replies?

At this point in the season it's easy to see: Hill more or less sucks and Hayes is as good as ever.

There are still people who will swear Hill is a better player, some people were just born slow.

    Long live the Chuck Wagon

Yeah, I was wrong for not wanting my NBA team to have a 6'5 Center. Chuck or Jordan we're screwed either way. But Call me after Chuck leads us to the NBA title over Boston.

Even if we had a 6'11 or > center we wouldn't get to the finals. I think chuck plays great for his size, we obviously aren't getting anyone that is a great center. Morey definitely does not want to overpay a has been center, just because some fans are not happy with an undersized center when he probably provides the same productivity on both ends of the court (Bi-Winning!).

Blah, Blah, Blah. These are mediocre days my friend and if you want to pound your chest over a 33-32 record & 11th place in the West then be my guest.

You were wrong for thinking that Jordan Hill was a better solution than Chuck Hayes at C:

No one argued that Chuck Hayes was a viable starting center on a championship-caliber team.

We aren't 11th place because of the starters.
