He's the best defender in basketball right now. I'm very comfortable making that claim.

    I believe the same thing.

He is a master at covering pick and roll defense and his post defense is phenomenal. His defense is right up there with Kevin Garnett. These two guys have the versatility and the quickness to be all over the court and make great defensive plays.

I truly believe that Chuck will be DPOY.

    he wont trust me

dpoy is either numbers driven (who fills in the box score) or media hype

    Hayes is neither unfortunately

I agree, but I have my hopes. Like you mentioned though, he should at least get some All-D team recognition.

The key is everyone posting comments about him on all the "big media" message boards.

The more times he's mentioned the more likely it is he will be named. Much like Shane wasn't nominated until he was mentioned over and over again as a Kobe stopper.

It will have to be a "grassroots" movement as JCF said.

We need to get a site dedicated to Chuck Hayes that will grab other sites attention then. I want Chuck to make it to the All-D team at least. I try to talk about Chuck in the other forums I post (insidehoops).

I bet we eventually will. If the team keeps playing how they are now, ESPN would probably drop one game and add one of our games. It's happened before and it can happen again.

Here is a great article in the Chronicle today on Chuck Hayes and how his teammates on the Rockets feel about him:

Could we somehow mount a campaign and stuff the All Star ballots to get Chuck into an All Star game? Don't the Rockets have a billion Chinese fans that could help out?

I said this 2-3 years ago here, and I believe it to be true as ever today.

If you don't like Chuck Hayes, there's just something wrong with you.

I disagree. Prior to even the Kobe thing, Shane Battier had brand capital through his Duke pedigree. To the national audience, Chuck Hayes is just a "hard worker" in the mold of clowns like Ronny Turiaf.

Anyone that saw him trap Kobe at the end of regulation will agree that he's probably the best defender in the game right now.

    Quoted for truth man.

I dont know anyone else that does so much with so little. I mean 6'6 playing center? This guy should be a role model for kids growing up. He is the definition of hard work and determination. He puts his body on the line every game and I really admire Chuck. He is easy to root for and should be getting more recognition around the league..

    From JCF's article:

Chuck Hayes has the best defensive rtg of ALL players in the NBA from 2005 to the present.

Not the Rockets. The entire league. If anyone's having a hard time understanding what that statement means, it means that no single NBA team has been better defensively over the past four years than the Rockets have been with Chuck Hayes on the floor. His defensive impact is simply unmatched in this league.

There's factual numerical evidence to support the statement that he is in fact the best defender in basketball today.

Are you trying to make me believe that because Chuck went to UK over Duke he had less of a brand capital than Shane?

Oh my god. Please.. take it back. I'm begging you to take it back!
