Did your kids get scared at the part where Nikabrik was trying to bring back The White Witch? There were lots of complaints about that part from people Ive talked to that saw it. Tinman, Golden Compass was a HUGE letdown. If I hadnt of read that book, that movie would have made zero sense. Too bad, thought that could have been a successful film trilogy. Same with Eragon...
saw it i was impressed the length of the movie was something that i was worried about because there were some kids in the theater normally they would get restless and of course it being disney how they would deal with the action scenes. of course no blood on swords or weapons but i enjoyed it, i think i actually liked it more than LWW. pretty good movie Chuck4--agree on the golden compass I really love pullman's trilogy but they werent as well known as some of the other movie trilogies based on books here in the states as maybe in england. most people probably didnt know it was just the beginning to the story. while golden compass on its own isnt too captivating when compared to the book, i am sure once they release the subtle knife and amber spyglass that the 3 movies will do a good job at telling the entire story.
I just saw it and was pretty underwhelmed. I wasn't too excited about seeing this one since the first one was more boring than watching grass grow. However everyone I knew pretty much said this was the best ever so I had to see it. Btw I just yesterday found out that this movie was based on a book/novel. After seeing the second one, I wonder, what is the target age range for this? Even after the second one, I would guess that it's for preteens and younger. Am I right? Question: Spoiler So are the 2 older siblings not gonna be in the series anymore? Who's gonna replace them? Those 2 younger ones are so annoying, especially the girl
I'd say it is aimed at 8-14 once they hit 15 and up they tend to look upon stuff like this as kiddie stuff....for the most part. That's why the general acclaim the Potter series has gotten surprised so many, they see it as a kid's story and don't understand why so many adults enjoy it.
Spoiler I agree. However I think Edmond got better. They needed more Edmond in this movie. I have never read the books. He is kind of more of a flawed character .. which made him more interesting to me
Spoiler I thought Edmond got no significant part in this movie. He was just.. there.. as the "king" with the flashlight and a messenger boy. I guess 5 kings and queens were too many main characters for the director to develop in one movie. Spoiler btw I thought it was funny during the whole battle at the end when everyone was dying and that little girl was having a tea party with Aslan Another question: Spoiler So what exactly is Aslan? It's been so long since I saw the first Narnia and the second didn't help at all. Is Aslan also a king in Narnia? Like an animal king? Or is he like some kind of an immortal God??? Seems like he has too much power not to be.
i saw it today, i didn't enjoy it as much as LWW. i'll agree, there were too many deviations from the book, more so than in the first movie. worth seeing overall, and this article is a bit disappointing. hopefully it doesn't kill #3. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i7c5c16b2d6b9258eed18d37574dd5366?imw=Y
Spoiler Peter is back in The Last Battle. Susan is out. Technically, they don't really come back to Narnia, because Narnia, as a world is coming to an end. They are also in Horse and His Boy because this takes place while they are still kings and queens the first time around. Edmund and Lucy are in Voyage of Dawn Treador and The Last Battle.
Spoiler Aslan, is Jesus/Adam. He helped create Narnia in Magicians Nephew and also populated it with talking animals and humans.
Just saw the movie yesterday and I thought it was better than the first one. It's still definitely a kids movie though. I've been wondering if Disney is planning to make a movie for every book of the series, wouldn't these actors be too old to play their roles in the "Final Battle" (released around 2020)?
I doubt they make the boy and his horse (too anti-islam) or the final battle (goes off the rails preaching christianity)
They better make Horse and His Boy. Its my favorite! I'm a Muslim and i don't care if people think its too anti-Islam. Just substitute the colored dark people for Native Americans or Chinese people or something.
Well all they need is a good screenwriter. They changed chunks of the book in "Prince Caspian" and the stroy still flew pretty well.
