I understand the concession argument, but I still think that if all these season ticket holders are planning to no show the games next year (because of no Young or Bush), they would still cancel their season tickets even if they didn't get their deposit back. We're coming off a 2-14 season and we passed over the best player in the history of college football and the hometown hero/champion...yet, ticket sales are at an all-time high. The point that is getting lost in all of this concession talk is that not picking Young or Bush has had zero negative effect on ticket sales and that goes against what a lot of posters on this board predicted.
if it were me...and i were upset...i wouldn't no-show. i'd ebay. i'd try to get some of my money back that way.
Who would want to buy them? I mean, if so many people are so pissed about not taking Bush/Young, no one would want to buy them. Right? Max, don't you have season tickets? Are you keeping them?
i don't have season tickets. didn't have them last year. i'm not suggesting no one would buy them. i'm saying, if it were me and i'd already paid my deposit...and i had no intention of going...i wouldn't waste the tickets. i'd sell them or give them away to someone. i think you have this idea that demand will always be there. i don't think that's true.
No, not at all. It certainly wasn't there last year. If we go 2-14 again this year, it won't be there either. My only point is that the demand IS there this year, even though we didn't take Young or Bush. There were a lot of people here who predicted a massive fan mutiny if we didn't take Vince. Same thing when we didn't take Bush. My point is that it hasn't happened. If anything, the controversy (along with the coaching change and new faces) has peaked interest for the team. So the doomsday posters were wrong. Anyway, I feel like I'm chasing my tail on this one, so I'll leave it at that. Afterall - I am nothing if not a Texan Superfan.
i just think it's a non-story at this point. because you had to commit to tickets before the draft, anyway.
I agree, but I also think the fans saw Kubiak acquire good enough players before the draft to make their decision. I really think we're going to be a competitor next year. Whether it's enough to make the play-offs remains to be seen. Come to think of it... Everything remains to be seen.
