I'd like to submit: People's exhibit A: Tape of the 2005 Rose Bowl. People's exhibit B: Tape of road win in "The Shoe." Right now, even at his age and maturity VY could start for over half of the NFL teams and be an instant improvement.
I like how you point to VY's best game vs. Reggie's worst. No point in mentioning how he did last Saturday, right? I think they're both good QB's, but I think Reggie is/will be better. Just a personal opinion from a neutral school, but I expect all the UT fans to raise hell
Vince Young in the NFL right now would be a really bad version of Michael Vick - lots of highlight plays, but his passing would be like Vick in his first year. He doesn't read defenses all that well yet, and his passes are sort of flick-of-the-wrist passes lofted over people (even the 40 yard ones, oddly enough). He still has a ways to go be a quality NFL starter at this point, although I think it's becoming more and more clear that he has all the tools. He just doesn't need them right now on a consistent basis, so he hasn't had a chance to fully develop them. Remember, in the Missouri game last year, Ramonce Taylor, backup RB at the time, was our leading passer (with like 40 yards) in a game we almost lost. Vince has progressed a lot since then, but he is just starting to master the college game, let alone the pro game.
I understood - the short answer is yes, the line is truely that dismal. The second part was to say that better caoching would help cover up a bad line by moving to plays that rely less on blocking in the middle. Unfortunately, that's only going to be a stopgap measure - you can't hide a bad line for long. Evan
I'd like to think that the Ohio State defense is just a little bit better than that iron curtain @ SMU?
I'm pointing out how they played this season on the road against good teams. McNeal doing what he did Saturday was impressive. It was also against SMU.
it's freakin' PAINFUL to lose to a GOOD team, but we should be able to at least scare the CRAP out of them... you know? we ALMOST beat the PACKERS, the PATRIOTS, the PANTHERS, the COLTS, and swept the TITANS and JAGUARS last year, though, yo... we ain't THAT bad... c'mon... What's different this season???
Reggie Mcneal is better at every aspect of being a quarterback. Radio played Rice and i didnt see him put up stats like reggie. Reggie does not have the supporting cast of Radio either (best oline in college football). The Rose Bowl was all running, he did no passing. Exhibit A- Texas VS Ou- 8-23 for 86 yards and no tds texas vs missouri - Vince Young 3/9 19 2.1 0 2 interceptions Exhibit B Texas A&M vs OU (Same defense) Reggie McNeal 11/24 213 8.9 2tds 1interceptions Doesn't look like he can read a defense too well to me, if you can't see that he is dumb i don't know what to tell you.
The only thing more annoying than the Texans' lack of offense are the knuckleheads in this TEXANS thread talking about college football QB's.
The guy we should want to get fired is Capers. He is the one who told Palmer to run the ball more even if it isn't working. Palmer wanted to throw it more so thats why he got fired.
This move will not help. Pendry is worst coach than Palmer. He has been fired 2 times already for having a boring offense.
Well I don't doubt he is on a very short leash now. He will be gone if the team doesn't go at least .500 for the rest of the year.
Neither Capers nor Casserly will be fired until it becomes certain that the Texans will finish with a losing record. Cleaning house this early in the season would solve nothing, so you might as well dance with them that brung ya.
