I really like Damon, and feel he would be the closest thing to a pure point guard that Houston has had in the past decade.

Remember when the Rockets were going to trade from Mighty Mouse when he was in his prime?
Remember when Rudy wanted Glen Rice?

I worry about getting people at the end of their careers. Juwan, he's doing ok, but he's near the end of the road.

Obviously we saw that Glen Rice's jumper, with the Rockets (& the lakers) couldn't find a bowl of rice at a Chinese restuarant.

GATER, great scenario. Thanks for explaining it. I propose we include you in future in CD/Swift meetings so you can show Stromile the light! ;)

I still remember it like today. David Aldridge prematurely announced it and the ESPN.com headline was "Houston, Damon is about to land". I was so excited. Then, the whole thing blew up and several people were pissed.

I'm indifferent to Patterson, but I do believe that getting a taller/quicker swingman is more important than getting a point guard. If T-Mac says otherwise then I don't care what I think. :D

If we end up with Stro and Stoudamire that may be enough, but assuming we don't upgrade the 2 we're going to need Head to play significant minutes to really contend IMO, and even then I wish we had a better backup for T-Mac.

wesley, sura, and spoon for DA and stoudamire. MLE for swift.

    us:
    yao-deke-baker
    stro-Jho
    tmac-DA
    JB-head-ward
    damon-james-moochie

JB is only starting because we would still jave to trave james and baker for a SG.

Dr. Jack Ramsay is on public record that Riley will take over.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2108713

With no commitment from Pat Riley -- and no emphatic, public denials -- speculation continues to mount that the team's president will take the reins from Stan Van Gundy and coach the Miami Heat next season.

"Pat Riley has indicated to Stan Van Gundy in reports I have received that he intends to return as coach of the Heat," ESPN analyst Dr. Jack Ramsay told the network on air Thursday. "I don't know where this leaves Stan Van Gundy, but I'm pretty certain that Riley will return as coach."

Ramsay, a Hall of Fame coach and a former TV analyst for the Heat, indicated the coaching change is expected in the next week or two.

"I haven't heard anything," Van Gundy told the Miami Herald for Friday's editions, declining further comment. Van Gundy, who has two years remaining on his contract, said recently he would work for the Heat only as their head coach.

Ramsay said he spoke with Riley during the NBA playoffs, and Riley indicated that he missed the rush of coaching. Although Shaquille O'Neal reportedly was unhappy at not getting the ball in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Pistons, there has been no sign that Heat players have pushed for Van Gundy's ouster; in fact, according to the Herald, several players have privately expressed that Van Gundy remain coach.

In eight seasons as the Heat's coach, Riley's teams were 354-270 in the regular season and 18-25 in the playoffs. Riley won four championships with the Lakers and also coached the Knicks before joining the Heat in 1995.

Owner Micky Arison is not believed to have asked Riley to resume coaching the team, a high-ranking team official told the Herald.

It's kind of funny, everyone acts like Damon's like 35, 36, and at the end of his career.

The guy's 31 years old. He's got some years left in him.

Exactly. These are Stoudamire's prime years. I think people misunderstood McGrady's comments about end of his career. He meant that this is probably going to be Stoudamire's last chance at big runs for NBA championships. He would be perfect here!

"DA" - David Aldridge? He's got great basketball IQ, but I really think we need more height at the 3.

I like Steve but I think there is a big difference between we don't need and I would like, love.........Did Tracy ever say I want Stro & Damon or should I say don't want Stro & Damon? The only thing I heard about Damon was Tracy saying we could use someone LIKE Damon. Every time I heard Tracy talking about Swift he was saying how he could be a great fit here.
