Illmatic: Really what you need to be looking at is the EFF rating. There is a reason they made it, to test the effeciency of a player per 40 minutes. And someone that takes more shots per game but makes them at the same clip will have a higher EFF rating.

lol, the man's minutes increased, so ofcourse his rebounds and his assists will increase too because he is on the court longer that usual. The way you can know if a players efficiency improved with more time is by looking his fg% and 3pg% or any other stats that has to do with %'s because its basing the player stats not on a time based record but on a skill based record.

If i got 5 rebounds or 5 assists in 32 minutes and minutes are increased to 40, probability wise, my rebounds and assists should also increase.

But if im shooting 42% in 30 mins, and 42% in 40 minutes, it just makes me consistent. ctually being a pro, his % should have gone up with the more chances he got , but oh well

Oh for the love of God.

So that means that if you start to feel better you just stop taking your prescription? People like you are the reason for drug resistant bacteria. You follow the doctor's orders, or you're supposed to.

And if you do need to extend your prescription how do you do that? Typically you get your doctor to refill it, instead of bopping down the pharmacy across the border and self-prescribing. Again, you're following the doctor's orders. You just don't make it up as you go along.

...that has problems with reading comprehension?

    One more time:

The doctor tells you to take bed rest for three days for your cold. What's your justification for stretching that out to three weeks? Just in case you overcompensate and get pneumonia or lung cancer?

no, i was just showing those to the people that make it sound like TMac turns into a Lebron James or Kobe during the playoffs.

And eff ratings is bs, even Chuck Hayes has a very high eff ratings. At the end of the day, what matters is not eff ratings but who wins the game.

Would you prefer to be the team with the highest eff ratings instead of the team with the NBA Championship, ------you decide

tracy's efficiency was 24 in the series v. the jazz. his PER in the season was 18. so no, efficiency is just not "offensive stats." do you go to the line more? do you increase your other stats?

if playing more minutes = better stats, then every player would see the same increase. kobe's rebounds and assists don't go up dramatically. paul pierce's minutes went up last yr and his other stats outside of ppg stay relatively similar. ray allen's didn't go up...

unless that person is lebron james, your argument of more minutes = better stats are unfounded, esp. in the playoffs where more minutes usually don't mean better stats.

if so, bobby jackson would be better wouldn't he? :D

    actually, lebron's fg% in the past 2 playoffs is 41%. his 3pt% is 27%.

the reason lebron still makes an impact is b/c he does get those rebounds to 7-8 a game, assists to 7-8 a game.

    so what are you saying?

I don't know who you are refering to, but he does get better. You claim he doesn't get better. He doesn't become Lebron James or Kobe obviously.

EFF ratings AREN'T bs in the sense that its safe to say if someone's EFF ratings get larger, its safe to say they are playing better. The reason Chuck Hayes has a high EFF rating is because he doesn't play many minutes, with Tmac thats not a problem.

But a lot of time the team with the highest eff ratings IS the championship team. Or they are at least up there.

You can't post a lot of stats, draw a conclusion from them, and then turn around and say "its about who wins the game more than who gets the most points/rebounds/etc". YOU were the one that brought stats into the equation, not me. Efficiency Rating is a legit stat, and its very helpful when we are talking about how well someone plays in the regular season vs post season because it takes a lot of variables that could skew reality out of the equation (same player, same team, etc).

well, look at how long lebron has been in the league and look how long Tmac has been in the league and tell me who has more playoff series win.

Like i said earlier, eff ratings are all sweet and cute but the end of the day, its whoever win games that is the final winner. And about time, we started realizing T-MAc is not a winner. This man openly said at the beginning of this season like he always does that this is the best team he's ever played on and then to come out and play this bs. If Tmac is someone who is injury free or someone who does all it takes to help his team, then no one would have been questioning him now, but lets call a spade a spade . This man will always pull out wonderful excuses just when you think you have him cornered

Well, based on the stats, the only reason tmac's eff rating increased during the playoffs is because he remained consistent, AND NO, HE DID NOT ELEVATE HIS GAME DURING THE PLAYOFFS. He just did the same things and the same stats except he has extended time to do it

yes, TEAMS win games, not individuals.

all i'm saying tracy, in the playoffs, has been helping the team and putting them in position to win.

except lebron has a role player like daniel gibson busting for 30 points to nail a series. has rafer or any of our role players step up and do something like that? i don't think you can name one.

Exactly, his percentage of winning playoff series is 0%. Very consistent!

Because... Lebron is the better player.

Ok... this argument is horrible. Your argument implies that we should all **** on Yao, Artest, everyone, because they havn't won a playoff series. You gotta be kidding me.

Like I mentioned before, YOU were the one that brought stats up. Tmac, statistically plays better in the playoffs. Your stats actually confirm that. EFF is just another stat commonly used by analysts.

watch the playoffs and watch the reg. season. it's 2 different players. the effort, intensity are just on another level with tracy. you don't even need stats to confirm that.

just go back and watch every playoff game tracy has played.

W/e dude. If you can't agree that more shots at the same clip doesn't mean a better game, I don't know what to tell you.

I mean, by your logic wouldn't that make Carl Landry and Louis Scola our best players? They play 20 minutes a game (you say more minutes doesn't make you better), they shoot over 50%. Nevermind they average around 10 a game... they are obviously the best players on our team.

if t-mac was not taking the advice of two doctors and shutting it down and there was no medical basis for it, the rockets would suspend him.

again, what is his motivation to do this? no one has answered this question. do some of you really believe that the guy is going to cause drama during the season when he is surrounded by the most talent he's ever had? please.

i didnt say jump on anyone and Artest has won a playoff series, so don't add him to the other losers on this team. The stats show that TMac did not get better during the playoffs, he did the same thing.

Well you say a player played better, his stats should improve with either the same or around the same minutes.

Tmac's minutes and shots ppg increased from the regular season to the playoffs, and mind you, the increase is not that significant when you factor in the fg% and 3p%. He just remained consistent, we didnt get more, neither did we lose a lot out of him during the playoffs. Just the same thing

a better comparison is if you have the flu and the doc said to take a full day off then go back to work for halfdays for the following 2 days (since you'll STILL be contagious but a little less so). you'll still feel like ***** and you might affect/infect others, but hey, you can work thru it!

instead, you decide to just take 3 days off, get completely healthy, and come back strong.

and when do you plan on addressing my other question? injury overcompensation ring a bell???
