i want him to be the leader though. i love ron. but when you shoot 34% (worse than rafer), i'm sorry, if i was on your team, i'm not gonna follow you. if you get blocked 6 times in a game, i'm sorry, even rafer will think he can do better than that.
dude, you really need to calm down. let me repeat what dr. andrews said for you. tracy is structurally fine, but the healing process is not done. therefore, he still experiences general soreness with that knee. therefore, he wants tracy to take one week off to rehab. after that, he can return to play but with "limited" minutes to monitor the soreness. tracy simply wants to make sure his knee fully heals before he returns. and i'm just not going to respond to your irrelevant analogy to pneumonia.
Uh, I know I'm the new guy and everything... ...not to mention not being the brightest candle on anybody's birthday cake... ...but what doctor should ever tell somebody who's had an operation (even one that's "exploratory" and "simple" like this one for McGrady)... ..that the only way to strengthen a weak knee is to play NBA-level games against NBA-level competition and hope that you can keep up? ...I mean, if the man is back trying to compete in the 6th month after an estimated 8-month recovery period for the knee, "minor" surgery or not, and including rehab time which he cut short to get back and help his team so people wouldn't say what they're saying about him anyway... ...oh, wait. I forgot. We're talking about Tracy McGrady here. ...master of the fake injury and king of the gutless losers....
Again, if you get a cold and the doctor says three days bed rest, are you going to stay in bed for two weeks just in case you catch pneumonia? That's my response to this garbage about overcompensation causing other injuries. When did T-Mac get his medical degree? How did he decide on a time span of 3 weeks? Why not 206.11 days? Why not 12.7 days? All of those figures are as medically valid as three weeks because none of them came from a medical professional.
I don't understand why people are hating on Tmac because he wants to take it easy on a knee. It sounds like you are accusing him of taking it easy when he doesn't need to. He knows what the goal is, and Tmac of all people has to be the most motivated to accomplish that goal given his background in the playoffs. So why are you assuming he's wussing out? And thats the thing... when he was playing through the injury he got **** on because he was sucking. Now that he's sitting out he's still getting **** on because he isn't playing through the pain. What the **** do you want him to do?
Lol, i actually took your post to heart and did a little research for those that claimed TMac performed better during playoff so take a look at other stats other than just ppg. Regular Season .... ....07/08 ....06/07 ....04/05 FGA ....19.8 ....20.8 ....21.2 Mins .....37 .....35 .......40 TO ......2.4 ... ...3 ......2.5 FG% ...42% ...43% ....43% 3P% ...30% ....33% ....32% Playoffs .... ....07/08 ....06/07 ....04/05 FGA ....24.3 ....23.8 ....24.4 Mins ....41.2 .....40 .......43 TO ........3 ... ...3 ......3.7 FG% .....42% ...39% ....45% 3P% ...20.8% ....25% ....37% That being said, his minutes increased a lot, he took more shots, his field goals and 3P% either remained the same or became abysmal. SO how the hell did the man improve his game during the playoffs, by jacking up more shots. I support all Rox players but this TMAC business is like being married to the same woman or having the same girlfriend for years. After a while, you know every single trick or skill she has to offer in bed and eventually its either she needs to be replaced or yall have to go to counseling to spice up the relationship. TMac looks too satisfied to be concerned with counseling ak.k making his game better or becoming smarter, its the same thing with him every year
So in other words T-Mac went to two different doctors, got two opinions, and now isn't going to follow the advice of either doctor. Instead he's going to prescribe his own course of treatment. When did he get his own medical degree? Again, if the doctor tells you to rest up for three days if you have a cold what's the justification of stretching that out to three weeks?
Number one he should have told the Rockets organization that he wanted to take some time off so that they didn't embarrass themselves by releasing a statement to the press that T-Mac was only going to be gone for a week.
Thats exactly how he improves his game during the playoffs, taking more shots and making them at the same clip. Would you not agree that taking more shots and making them at about the same clip is not improving your game? Player A takes 10 shots and makes 5, scoring 10 points. Player B takes 20 shots and makes 10, scoring 20 points. Would you not agree that player B is the better player? The only difference between player A and player B is that player B is taking more shots. Your own "research" proves you wrong. During the 04/05 season it actually got better. During the 06/07 season it got worse. During the 07/08 season it stayed the same. You claim that they either remained the same or became abysmal... and its not true.
No question he's hurt. I think the problem is that he never seems to heed good medical advice... combine that with his somewhat aloof "Yeah, well, they said a week but I say 3" kind of attitude and it just doesn't sit well. Maybe his fault is more in his presentation of it than anything. Maybe that's what makes the media do what they do. Always looking for the story, you know. It also doesn't help that the three weeks he's wanting coincides perfectly with the holiday season. I am not saying it's made up, I'm just saying it doesn't help the perception of fans and media. Let's hope the rest puts him where he needs to be, and that we're not too far behind the eightball by then. Mainly, that the rest gets him to 100% as it should. The injury/surgery recovery has already taken much longer, but as many have said, he did play when he was hurt. My problem is that the doctors say he's not only fine to start playing in a week, but that recovery will depend on him playing to get back in game shape. I wish he'd say, "I may start practicing and playing minimal minutes in a week, but to be sure I'm alright, I may limit all of that to a large degree over the next month or so." but I'm not his PR man, and he said and does as he says and does.
he's actually following the course of the 2nd doctor if you read. dr. andrews agrees he needs rest and rehab. dr. andrews says that in regards to the "usual" prognosis for general surgeries with this part of the body. but tracy knows his body more than anybody. he knows he needs more time. that's all it is. you don't like it fine.
We don't know how they operate behind the scenes, so I'm not going to really make an argument for or against this statement. Having said that, I'd like to think that management should be able to pick up a phone and contact their star player and ask him a simple question before releasing a statement on whether or not he'll be back and at what time.
Lol, please don't be stupid, the stats prove he is consistent as being the same thing he is, he does not elevate his game, he is just him, whether you have more minutes or less minutes. Being a NBA player or professional in any sports, probability proves that the more chances you have, the better you become. That being said, TMAc did not elevate his game during the playoffs, he simply just played the same just with more minutes. And to think people got on Rafer for his 3p%, did you look at Tmac's 3p% during the playoffs. The man who is supposed to be the star of the team, and he also jacks them up like they are hot cakes
He's not following what the second doctor told him to do. That was one week rest and limited play time. This three weeks rest and whatever is McGrady's own invention. I know my own body pretty well too, I think. If I break my leg though I'm still going to get it set at the hospital.
not really, let me give you other stats. let's just look at his rocket's playoffs stats. reg. season 04-05 6.2 rpg, 4.5 apg 06-07 5.3rpg, 6.4apg 07-08 5.1rpg, 5.9 apg (notice i don't even add the blocks and steals) playoffs 04-05 7.4rpg, 6.7apg 06-07 5.9rpg, 7.3apg 07-08 8.2rpg, 6.8apg (his efficiency went from 18 to 24 in the playoffs)
You could just as easily turn that around though and say that T-Mac should have picked up the phone to management, especially since what he was doing flew in the face of the opinion of that second medical expert.
How is it that you AREN'T better when you are making the same percentage of shots, but taking more of them? This doesn't make sense to me at all. Generally the more shots you take per game the less your FG% is. So being able to keep the same FG% while taking more shots and scoring more points means you were BETTER.
let's just agree to disagree. from my experience, i take the doctors' advice, and go at about how best it would help me. the doctors usually gives you a prescription of a drug for a period of time. does that mean that one prescription is going to heal your illness? most likely not. get it?
