The issue isn't just that T-Mac is fragile. The question is whether or not he's being intentionally disruptive. Again, isn't it a little bit suspicious that the Rockets found out that T-Mac was going to be gone for three weeks from a reporter? Either way the Rockets wouldn't be having this headache if they'd traded for Billups.
(First, there is a knee scope. He has arthroscopic knee surgery. There was a time that arthroscopic surgeries were relatively minor. These days they can do minor and some major work arthroscopically. In his case, loose bodies were removed. The estimate of six to nine months was before he would be 100 percent of the player he can be, not a time period to be healed. The doctors believe he is healed now. I am not a doctor and have not examined him. If they are correct and the best way to get back to full strength is to play, he should play to the best of his abilities and pain threshold, and let Rick Adelman decide when he is not playing well enough. -- Jonathan) Is tmac really injured? I seriously doubt it. He is just out of shape. The best way to get back into shape is to play basketball. And Jonathan Feigan is a well known tmac apologists.
Can someone please explain this idiocy to me because it's saturated almost every page of this forum. Everyone here is so desperate to find a whipping to pin all of the blame for the failures of this franchise, that now that McGrady looks like an easy target, you are all resorting to revisionism. Year after year?!? What? Who almost singlehandedly carried this team into the playoffs the past two seasons? Who has been the only guy on this roster to even bother showing up in the playoffs? Unless you all forgot, it's Yao that's been hurt each of the past two seasons, and it's Yao who more often than not is a total liability in the playoffs - that is if he is even on the court. But don't let facts get in the way of a convenient argument.
ok. the 1st doc (rox) said to play continually. the 2nd doc suggested a week off then limited minutes. tmac says 3 weeks off then regular minutes. the 1st doc - the rockets doc - holds no weight with me. the rox docs have screwed up too many times in the past for me to trust them. the 2nd doc's suggestion isn't that different from mcgrady's suggestion, imo. and I'd still like to know if you think there's a risk of injuring something else by overcompensating. this isn't weightlifting. this is fullcourt nba basketball where running, jumping, banging, cutting, falling, and landing happens everytime you play.
I'd say that the reason there are doctors is because they're supposed to be medical experts. When I'm sick and have to go to the hospital I do what the doctor says, not whatever I feel is appropriate. Why? Because they're doctors, and I'm not. Similarly I don't take precautions above and beyond the ones that my doctor feels are necessary. Why? Because they're doctors and I'm not.
yes, reg. season headaches. they would have made the trade if they thought yao would be the leader. from the looks of the past 3 games, that's not the case. again, the team has to make tracy dispensable. they haven't done that. that's why more is not going to trade him.
yes, doctors are medial experts. but do all have the same experiences? would you trust every doctor to perform your surgery if they just have an MD next to their name? obviously no. dr. andrews is regarded as one of the best, if not the best, in the nation according to tracy. and he went there to get a 2nd opinion. he agreed with our doctors that there is soreness. but he DISAGREED with our doctors that tracy still needs some time off to rehab. the team doctors said tracy can play through it. that's a BIG disagreement. dr. andrews suggested one week off. tracy makes it 3 "to be safe" i presume, b/c he probably knows his body is fragile. so actually, tracy IS taking the advice of the doctor, just not our doctors.
Tracy's not irreplaceable. Anyone can be moved for the right trade. Too bad the Rockets didn't get rid of him and get Billups and Prince. Anyway, in terms of leadership ability it's pretty obvious that Ron Ron's got that covered.
No, he's not taking the advice of a doctor. Why three weeks? Why not three months? The advice of the doctor was one week. That's it. Anything else is not the advice of a medical professional.
he IS taking the advice of the doctor. but he's being more "safe" by making it 3 weeks. why not 3 months? b/c all he has to do is rehab. you do know it's better to be safe right?
Come on man, doctors diagnose. They are not all-knowing beings. They study the body, look at symptoms, make an educated guess as to the treatment. They monitor, and suggest the actions one should take. It's not an exact science, hence you often find 2nd, 3rd, etc opinions. Sure, they can say structurally, his knee can handle playing basketball. But they can't say that McGrady's pain will be low enough that he can play effectively. Apparently, he can't. I'm pretty sure many people don't follow doctor's orders to a T either. So if one doc says, you are good to go. Next says, you need a week off, and then limited minutes. Is it so off base to say 3 weeks off while rehabbing and coming back to normal minutes? For the situation, I'm upset I don't get to watch him play. I truly enjoy watching him play. But in the grand scheme of things, it's really not a big deal to me at this point. 3 weeks, fine. See you when you get back. If you suck then, or give us some more BS...then I, being a pretty darn loyal fan, might start to turn on you.
yes ron's got that covered. we blew a big lead v. a pacers team at home. we looked lost on the road v. a nuggets team without anthony for most of the game. both games, ron sucked. yes, he has that leader quality covered it's time for yao to make this his team (like i say every year). please do it yao.
Hi, t_mac1! You don't REALLY think that anybody who has it in for McGrady is all of a sudden going to be best pals with the man, do you? I mean, you don't invest as much time charging up so much hate and dislike for a guy just to chuck that away as soon as his team wins... How about we take a poll and see how many people say, when the Rockets start winning and McGrady is healthy and they're playing deep into the postseason, that somebody OTHER than McGrady is the reason why? That would at least keep in line with all the other stuff passed around these days...
If you're going to pull some figure out of a hat, why not 14.23245 days? Why not 27.18289292 days? Why not 60 days? Why three weeks? The fact is that T-Mac is making that number up. There's no medical basis for it. No doctor told him three weeks. That's like taking a month of bed rest for a cold when the doctor told you to take three days. Why take chances, right? Wouldn't want to risk pneumonia.
badgerfan, You are not answering verse's questions. Since you refuse to answer them, one can only assume you are biased. You see TMac as a lazy player and this confirms it to you. That's OK, he looks lazy to me often, too. that said, The doctor said (which you avoid to address) one week and LIMITED minutes TMac is saying 3 weeks and then full minutes. maybe Adelman should say one week and come off the bench. I don't know. you also refuse to address verse's point about overcompensation causing other injuries...like reinjuring his back, maybe. remember, JVG loves TMac, that's a fact.
Yea, making huddles doesn't make you a leader. Screw leaders...we need people to put the ball in the darn basket consistently.
really, is reading comprehension that difficult? this is tracy taking the safe route so he'll be back as healthy as possible. why the hell do you want your best player "limited." that doesn't help the situation.
Yeah, doctors are human and they're fallible. That said I'd rather trust one of them about my medical problems than a movie actor or a computer programmer. And when it comes to following a course of treatment why make stuff up that's got nothing to do with what the doctor told you? If you get a cold and the doctor says three days bed rest are you going to take two weeks just in case you get pneumonia? At the very least this should lead you to question T-Mac's heart and desire. He's taking himself out of the game despite being medically cleared to play.
